I'll be there This will be my first year going to Houston-- how's the tailgate scene?

I'm missing Frisco this year (I'll be in Cancun, poor me, haha), so I'm still hoping for an Austin show, probably in vain.

The tailgate scene isn't bad, but not like Frisco (so I've heard). Jerry Diaz and Hanna's Reef will be playing. Also, the party scene in the bar at the Marriott pre-concert can get wild.

I know that Jerry Diaz and Hanna's Reef will be playing in the tailgate lot. This is generally in the mall lot closest to the CWMP. Also, the pre-concert party in the bar at the Mariott is generally fairly epic. I know I I didn't have little kids with us, this is what we'd do.

We will have the 'keets in our group so our pre-concert activities will probably be a late lunch at Pappadeaux and a swim in the hotel pool.

We're staying at the Marriott, and we do a pre and post concert party in our room. We usually take a stroll around the parking lot between 4 and 5, and head to CWMP about 7-ish. I hope everyone likes it hot and humid!

Weather is supposed to be torrential rain on Friday and Saturday! I hope the show goes on. Oh, and I hope we can get there and get out. Any word on floods in the area?

The area is clear right now. The roads are open and the creeks are going down. Most of the flooding now is in the big rivers. My family was cut off for 2 days but can now get around with no problems.

We have more rain heading our way now. If it settles in on the north side, where the venue is located, it could be interesting. Road access, etc. They redid the lawn after hurricane Ike to make it drain better but I don't know how it held up after 12+ inches of rain we got last weekend. Then to add what we may get in the next couple of days...

They had a similar rain event prior to the concert last year and the lawn was in great shape. They allowed us to take in a small tarp to put our beach towels on and we were fine.

My husband and I are headed down Friday. Worried about all the rain the next few days though!!

I called the CWMP today because I wanted to see what all we could take into the venue in regards to towels, tarps, etc. Things are very much a "go" with them and they remarked that it is a "rain or shine" event. The only way they would run into issues is if there was severe weather at show time.

btw---for the hill, flannel backed tablecloths work very well. Put them plastic side down and sit on the flannel side.

I also saw this morning that most of the heavy rainfall is predicted more around the I-35 corridor, and then more east and northeast of the Houston area by Saturday.

But, we all know that doesn't mean that The Woodlands won't get dumped on between now and then.

It hasn't rained in 6 hours and the Brazos River hasn't flooded us yet!!! Things are looking up for tomorrow night's show at CWMP. Time for a major Spec's run!
