Jimmy Travelogue
Many years ago Jimmy wrote a 4 part article about his travels in the green tomato along the outer banks. i was hoping this would be an on going contribution from jimmy, maybe 2-3 times a year about what he is doing and where he is traveling. Has there been anything like this anywhere else?

Also enjoyed that travelogue with the pictures. And hoped that he would continue it. It would have been interesting to read about his trip to Cuba, for example. ![battingeyes [smilie=battingeyes.gif]](./images/smilies/battingeyes.gif)

Re: Jimmy Travelogue
I won't speak to keeping up with Jimmy. I wouldn't know how to do that. But I shall offer this. When Jimmy had the green tomato built he was a bit younger. (And this is only about one component of your query.) Jimmy ain't no spring chicken now. And I too read his account of the journey from NY down the Atlantic coast and his stopovers at the OBX and CHS where he had his bike fixed. It was the usual adventurer type log. Later, as I recall, he drove the thing up to CHS from FL where he and The Coral Reefers rehearsed for their upcoming tour. But I gotta tell you - and this is strictly opinion - I don't think the adventurous balladeer, fisherman, surfer, and sailor is exactly hankering to do any long distance travel in that thing these days. Maybe I'll be proved wrong - I hope so. Oh I'm not saying he doesn't use it locally, wherever it may be parked at this point in Buffett history. BTW, it sticks out like a sore thumb and is a dead giveaway to who's in town. But he's so darned busy that his private air force is the logical means of travel and escape. And I know you weren't just talking about the tomato. His destinations and what he does there are what's important, right? I'm just giving you my take on trekking all over the place using a four-wheel-drive mode of travel as I am just a few months younger than Jimmy. It's a little harder to get the joints moving every day. We are not eternally young. So I may get someone else to drive the tomato to a secluded beach where I can catch a wave or wet a line, and where the local constabulary would not issue me a citation for driving on the sand. Like others, I think of sailing, surfing, fishing, flying, and the tropics when I think of Buffett. But times change. I wonder how much of that he still does "compared" to the past, especially surfing and fishing. Obviously he is still a frequent flyer, including to the tropics. And yes, I know he has a new boat being built (Maybe it's already been christened, launched, and sailed a maiden voyage. How would I know?) But I wonder when the old Stearman biplane last had wind across its wings? I bet it's gathering dust in the corner of a lonely hangar somewhere. With regard to the old scribe keeping us abreast of the details of his travels, well, who knows? Maybe he thinks it's just not that interesting or exciting. And he's done so much, it probably really isn't to him. The children are grown now and I gotta tell you, that was the fun part of my travels, watching and playing with my kids. But there is one thing you may be able to count on, Jimmy is still a writer and always will be. The absence of a recent tale doesn't mean the passion to pen one has evaporated. Just as the romance of adventure never fades, neither does the love of writing. So maybe, just maybe, there's another book in him somewhere. We'll just have to wait and see.
Every day you wake up you get another chance to do it right.
