What is considered to be the best closing or encore song? Does Buffett have any songs that are considered to be a rarity to be played live? I want to hear tin cup chalice but have never heard it live in concert. Thanks.

As for songs that a rare or have been played live there is a discussion thread here on this site with a list of songs Jimmy as recorded on his studio albums but has never played live:

There is no real best closing or final encore song per say as Jimmy usually plays an acoustic version of one his ballads as a final encore. Some fans like songs from Jimmy's 1970's Key West era albums while others like songs from newer albums.

I know it's not a Jimmy song, but....

back in 2008 he did an encore in Las Vegas by covering "Wildflowers". That was my favorite encore of all time, and I don't know that he's performed it ever again. He talked about his daughter a bit, and his version of the song is one for the ages.

The two that stand out for me, both in Bristow, VA. We got nautical wheelers after funkhouse9 started a petition. Another one that was pretty special, Jimmy did a medley of Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season and Last Mango in Paris.

(It's kinda cool having been @ two of the shows on the album.)

All the ones listed are great encores. For me, it's all about how I'm feeling at the time. The following (in no particular order):

1) Tin Cup Chalice and Nautical Wheelers for when I'm feeling nostalgic (and missing KW).
2) Tonight I Just Need My Guitar for when I'm missing the simple ways things used to be.
3) Last Mango in Paris...when I'm missing Captain Tony.
4) Lovely Cruise when I'm feeling, even thought it's over, everything will be ok. The happy goodbye.
5) Pacing The Cage for when I'm feeling lost and need that compass.
6) When the Coast is Clear for when I'm missing the place that means the most in my heart.

Lovely cruise in cincy was great Saturday night. Also, he went to Paris is a great closer.
