We are waiting for our first "summer" storm. Winds up to 70mph with potential for golf-ball sized hail, power outages, etc. I guess I better get out there and provide protection for all the flower pots I just finished planting :-?

Hello All and Sundry,

11 inches.

Not bragging.

11 inches of rain between Friday night and Monday morning.

I am scared to go out and start cleaning up. :o Might be quicksand out there now - so much rain.

It seems no major flood inside, but the yards were awash.

However a lot of this was only 10 miles away, maybe a bit less:

I just got a severe thunderstorm warning on my phone, in effect until 11:00. It isn't raining now so I might as well head to the ballpark.

Wow Rabz, that's a lot of rain!
Are they calling for more or has it passed?
Is it the beginning of fall for you guys?

Have they cancelled games in the past because of weather? Sounds like tonight might be the night with the potential severe thunderstorms.

The fest staff came by to warn about the upcoming storm. Have to keep an eye out on our pop-ups.

It was a big weather system. It covered most of the east coast. It started in Queensland and moved to us in New South Wales. It is still moving south so the states of Victoria and Tasmania are next in line.

The worst has passed us now - although there are still issues right on the coast. The wave buoy measured an 8m (24 ft) wave last night.

This beach is usually 50 to 100 yards wide:

We typically get two or three of these "east coast low" systems during winter, usually not this bad!

Winter has just started, well from a calender perspective, some say it starts on the equinox (I really don't care, myself).

No, we don't need any more rain but we are fine.
I hate it for the people that are flooding over and over and over again.

They've had rainouts before. I was at 3 or 4 games last year that started but had to be called because of rain. It started raining while I was driving to the ballpark but it stopped by time I got there. It started again about 20 minutes before game time and came down pretty hard for a while but they got the game in. The Pelicans won 15-0.

2 sets of massive downpours and high winds came through last night between 4-7. No hail or power loss thank goodness.
