What really p***es me off about this whole situation is the way Margaritaville.com has dropped the ball. We are hearing from so many sources that GW tix are NOT going on sale tomorrow, yet they still have the onsale listed as 3/16. This is ridiculous! We all know the show is a guaranteed sellout whenever tix go on sale. However, this does not mean that common consideration should go out the window.
I planned this weekend around this onsale, and rescheduled several things to avoid a conflict. Now tix may not go onsale as planned, and I'm going to have to re-reschedule those things. Someone at M-ville must know what's going on, but has not bothered to update the Web site. The goodwill of fans is an important part of their business model. Incidents like this aren't going to help them in their expansion.

Consider this:
Britney on sale
No radio ads (it is usually hpyed big time all week long). Funny how that is about the most Buffet you'll hear all year on most of the stations.
Nothing in the Boston Globe (There is usually a 1/4 page ad promoting the show on the Thursday or Firday before the on sale)
Steve Morse from the Boston Globe always mentions Buffett on sale in his Rock Notes Column on the Friday before the on sale.

Amen to that, Deb!
It's very disappointing that SOMEBODY, ANYBODY, couldn't just update the Margaritaville website. They obviously know what's going on and there's no point in making tickets any harder to get (I didn't think that was possible!).
I too, have rescheduled plans around this "onsale date". And now, a little over 24 hours from the proposed on sale date, the only info we can get is -- "they 'might' not be going on sale that day"
Somebody help us!!! We just want to go see Jimmy at Greatwoods! Is that too much to ask

while we're offering polite criticism let's not leave out Ticketmaster. Surely I'm not the only one who finds it ridiculous that the company selling the tickets pleads absolutely ignorant of any pertinent info. less than 24 hours before the original on-sale date? We've all learned to expect very little from Ticketmaster but still....

The ticketmaster site doesn't show the Vegas shows at all and the MGM Grand isn't giving out any definite answers, in fact they raised the ticket priced by 50.00 just over the past week. Lots of fans are waiting to get tickets and it does seem that someone is holding out on us. If anyone hears anything lets us all know.

Hello all Parrott Heads, I just got off the phone with ticket master, as of right now they have no date for Jimmy to go on sale tomorrow for Great Woods. I have a feeling that they are not telling us the truth! I think that they are going on sale tomorrow and they are just keeping this quite so I will be getting up a 4 am to go and stand in line!!!! If I get any updates I will post!!
Thanks all and good luck!! See you all in August!! FINS UP ALL!!

Well, I finally got annoyed enough to send Margaritaville a note. I couldn't find an email address for them, so I *faxed* the following to them:
To The Fine Folks at Margaritaville.com:
PLEASE update your Web site with the on-sale date for the Great Woods shows. We here in Boston are hearing from many sources that tickets aren’t going on sale this weekend, yet you still have them as on sale tomorrow. This weekend, the outlets are going to be crowded with Britney Spears wannabes – next weekend, Great Woods itself will be crowded with John Mellencamp fans. Both these on-sales are already confirmed by both TicketMaster and the venue – but not JB’s shows.
PLEASE let us know what’s going on. We would like to have at least a chance at GW tickets (however small) before the scalpers snap them up.
Sincerely,
Deb Cebulski

I wonder what reaction (if any) I'll get from them.

I called ticketmaster and waited for an operator. She said that the operators are updated once a day and today's update was that Tweeter Ctr-New Jersey would go on sale Sat. 3/16. When I asked if it was possible that between now and tomorrow at 10am, it could be announced that 8/29 and 8/31 shows at Mansfield would go on sale, she said yes it is possible. She also said that she heard that these concert dates may not go on sale til June or July!
Her best advice was to continue checking ticketmaster.com as it is updated regularly. She also suggested pollstar.com but I did not find any ticket information there.
Good luck to everyone tomorrow! My opinion: this is a classic example of poor management decisions by ticketmaster! The Parrot Heads deserve to know! (I would guess that Jimmy would be disappointed in this fiasco.)

I was trolling over on the M-ville board and found the following email address: info@margaritaville.com. I just sent them my little note.
If you're upset at this fiasco, I suggest that you let the fine folks at Margaritaville know how you feel.

I just called Margaritaville in Key West, since they are the ones who maintain the margaritaville.com website to try to find out the scoop. According to the woman that I spoke with, they are still planning on the March 16 sale date, but they are still working out the contracts and until those are settled, they can't post the tickets for sale.
She said that they are keeping a close eye on the situation and as soon as they get any new information, they will post it to the margaritaville.com website. She suggested that we keep checking every hour or so to see if anything new has been posted. I also asked if there was anyone else we could call for more info, to give our input, etc., and she said that they'll get the info before anyone else, so just keep checking the website.
I felt kind of bad for her, sounds like she's been stuck fielding all of the angry calls from Parrot Heads! Unfortunately, I don't think sending nasty messages is going to help things any...

I just got off the phone with Margaritaville. I asked them if they new what was going on up here. She said yes. It seems the problem is Britney Spears tix go on sale around here tomorrow. They are still working the contract with ticketmaster and the sales could be pushed off till next weekend.
She told me the webpage would be updated as soon as they know. She told me to keep checking back.
