Anyone know if any of the surrounding bars are having "tailgating" events, i.e. like that you may need to purchase advance tickets for? We're coming in from out of town and were planning on bar hopping all day until the show, but interested to know of any special events

I'm not sure of anyone having tailgating events, but Wrigley is practically surrounded by bars. I heard the last time that he played Wrigley it was like a big block party

Yeah I'm definitely aware of the surroundings (lived a few years in Lakeview) but never while Buffett was at Wrigley...just Tinley Park. Can't wait though!

According to someone "in the know," it's usually around 3 PM for an 8 PM show at the more traditional venues.
Wrigley Field, being a 7 PM show, and maybe a bit more unfamiliar venue for a few of the band members, you may want to mark your territory no later than 2 PM.

The last time Buffett played Wrigley, I think Murphy's Bleachers had something going on. Or maybe it was just very crowded because it's close. I remember they were selling "Margawrigleyville" t-shirts.

I was wondering about this, too. I figure the bars will be packed with people going to the concert, but I wasn't sure if they might have some "gated in" areas outside Wrigley, too? We have an airbnb with a yard pretty close, so we were going to "tailgate" there for a bit anyway, but it'd be nice to check out how Wrigleyville is done up for this.

Anybody who says "Wrigleyville IS the tailgating" is nuts. Drinking overpriced PBR in overcrowded bars doesn't compare to what goes on in the tailgate lots.

You are SO right.
Everything in the Wrigleyville area, and pretty much all of Chicago, is way overpriced.
Give me a good old-fashioned Buffett tailgate any day. And you don't have to park 50 miles away.

Last time at Wrigley we attended a private rooftop party and had a blast, but friend doesn't livve in Wrigleyville any more and so we aren't counting on that this time time around, but will keep our eyes open for something to do. Maybe the Boat Drunks are playing somewhere? OH, I looked- they are at Fernando's Tequila Bar at 2 pm. That's about a mile away from Wrigley.

No place to park in Wrigleyville. Imagine all the bars will have "tailgates." Not what we are used too, but the best option, probably. Will be a blast!!
