Jimmy Buffett facial hair (A White Goatee and a Pink Crustacean)

A lot of people have made the argument that when Jimmy Buffett shaved off his facial hair in 1988 (Hot Water album) and changed his band completely that a part of the old Buffett was gone and he went into a new era. The music definitely changed into a more pop, and if I may say, corporate sound. Not knocking 1989's "Off to See the Lizard." I love that album...very slick.

Could this return of facial hair be to signify a return to his roots? A friend of mine played an informal gig with Jimmy not long ago. Hadn't seen him in a while and commented how laid back he had gotten.
