Spoke with the Mansfield PD today. They do not have any plans to close the road that goes from South Main St over 495. Don't know if anyone who is reading this plans to still show up early to Great Woods. If they do open the gates early, because they can't stem the tide and there is a public safety hazard, can someone please text me @ 401-286-5466 (work cell). As an aside, if there are people that are "schooling around" waiting for the gates to open and don't have a good place to hang out, you are welcome to wait on my lawn and back porch. I live in a residential neighborhood, right off South Main, 1.5 miles from GW. Text me if you want the address. My 15 y.o. had 4 impacted wisdom teeth pulled so start time here wont be until 10a.m.Thethirstygator wrote: ↑August 16, 2017 10:07 pm Spoke with a Mansfield Police Officer today. Xfinity is the one who doesn't want the lots opened till 1pm. The Mansfield Police will have 2 details @ Great Woods to prevent cars from lining up. He also said that there will be a couple of Tow Trucks there to tow anyone who has lined-up. With that being said, he acknowledged that if the back-up gets out of hand and causes a public safety hazard they will be forced to open the gates and allow people in.
I'm in a quandary as to what time to get there. I'm going to be ready @ 11am (I live 1.5 miles from venue). When I hear they are letting people in, I'll be ready to roll.

Re: Who's going to Great Woods, August 19, 2017?
UPDATE:
1- The Xfinity Center has nearly doubled the number of porta johns in the parking lots this year.
2- The Xfinity Center will also open the front gates as we did last year so guests can use the permanent restrooms inside the main gates.
(this is a good option for those in Lots 4,5,6 and VIP, as well as Lots 8 and 9)
3- The Xfinity Center will be opening a gate that is across from Lot #10
Inside this gate there will be 25 additional porta johns.
These porta johns will be serviced before we open the gates for the show and some of these will be designated as “Ladies Only” for the
remainder of the evening
This is a good option for guests in Lots 8,9,10,11 and 12
Overall this will more than double the number of restrooms that are usually available.
4- It is a long day so the truck will be in to service the porta johns mid-afternoon. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience but this is a
necessary step.
Have a great day!

If anyone is interested we will open the concourse at 6:30pm so you can beat the crowd.
The entire venue will still open at 7pm but we will open early and have some concessions available too.
We are working on getting some entertainment as well.

One more thing to keep in mind regarding travelling to Greatwoods tomorrow, traffic on Route 495 South is expected to heavy as this is also the weekend of The Falmouth Road Race on The Cape and that event also draws a big crowd

Lots def opened before 1pm, we pulled in at 1pm and there was already several rows of tailgating already setup so they were in at least 20-30 min before 1pm.
And holy crap, getting out of that place at the end of the show, worst I have ever seen it.

Probably the coolest encore I have ever heard. Although, for a second I thought maybe, just maybe, Jimmy forgot what song he was playing and just went with it. Two of my all time favorite songs combined - never would have thought I would ever see or hear that.
Fantastic day. Great Woods never disappoints.

agree on the combination of the 2 songs. They person sitting next to me , and wondering if we would get a acoustic solo song , I told him I'd love to here Tin Cup Chalice , if not maybe a Nautical Wheeler. Never dreamed we'd here both. I'm guessing there are some jealous fans from prior shows .drunkpirate66 wrote: ↑August 20, 2017 4:47 pm Probably the coolest encore I have ever heard. Re: Who's going to Great Woods, August 19, 2017?
During the Bing and Bong show before the concert Jimmy was asked if there was going to be anything special for the Greatwoods show, Jimmy responded with one word "BONUS". As soon as he said it I had a hunch it would happen during the encore part of the show. Personally I was hoping he would do my favorite acoustic closer "Lovely Cruise" but the two song combo was much betterTommyBahama wrote: ↑August 20, 2017 7:17 pmagree on the combination of the 2 songs. Re: Who's going to Great Woods, August 19, 2017?
That was a really good and enjoyable show. Jimmy sure seemed like he was still having fun. (Thank God the Tiki Bar is Open started off a little poorly but they recovered). The sound system definitely seemed like it was upgraded. Much better. I was a little surprised the entire lawn was much. I didn't even see a blade of grass.
It was pretty funny watching the police get so frustrated with the traffic. The venue was the one holding everything back. We had a "spotter" at the convenience store there on the corner and he was saying that the cops let about 15 cars in and the guy with the venue started jumping up and down screaming "no!". So it stopped for a few minutes and then they just caved in. The parking lot at the little shopping center down the street was packed with cars, buses and RVs. I'm sure they loved that. You'd think with the amount of people showing up to tailgate they'd just let them trickle in as they arrive instead of waiting for a complete cluster to develop. Ah well. A good time was had by all. Sure hope Jimmy has a few more in him.

It was too much tequila . . . . or not quite enough.

It may also have to do what time xfinity staffers showed , security team , and when they were put in place. They probably couldn't just open without attendants.MDShark70 wrote: ↑August 21, 2017 9:13 am That was a really good and enjoyable show. Jimmy sure seemed like he was still having fun. Re: Who's going to Great Woods, August 19, 2017?
Very good point. Back when it was still fun at Manassas, they just used to charge $25 or so per car for early arrivals. I'm sure that paid for some of the help. I bet these days folks would glady fork over $50 to park early at a place like Great Woods.
It was too much tequila . . . . or not quite enough.
