Good morning. My dad was in the Navy, I was in the Coast Guard.
We were both radiomen.

Good morning Debbie and big John. I wore my dad's wool bell bottoms for student teaching. 13 buttons on the flap. Who came up with that?

Maybe the 13 buttons are for the original 13 colonies? Or whoever came up with the design wanted to prove he wasn't superstitious. ![noeyedear-shrugging [smilie=noeyedear-shrugging.gif]](./images/smilies/noeyedear-shrugging.gif)

I wore those 13 button pants as part of my dress blues and dress whites during my entire 9 years on active duty in the Navy (and for the following 15 years in the active reserves).
They were great. Until it was time for an emergency head call, that is.

Afternoon BNers
Made a quick trip to Gruene Hall to see Jerry Jeff.
For the first time ever, I didn't take any photos. We had really bad seats and couldn't really even see the stage most of the time. But's that OK....nice to just hear him sing.

Re: Son of a Sailor Sunday@ the MSC
Ahoy! I googled the 13 buttons. The bells had up to 15, then 11, then, due to a better diet, sailors widened. Two more were added. It had nothing to do with the original colonies which I thought was patriotic.

So it was due to calories not colonies?

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but sometimes they have really good ideas....
