I just heard Gregg Allman died at the age of 69. One of the great voices in rock music, in my opinion. A great songwriter too. I didn't get to see The Allman Brothers until after Duane had died but I thought they were one of the greatest American rock bands ever. The last time I saw Gregg perform was just about a year ago when The Gregg Allman Band played at the House of Blues here in Myrtle Beach. He still had that great bluesy voice. The music world has lost a major talent.
I wonder if people within the music business knew he was ill? I saw The Marshall Tucker Band 2 weeks ago and they did "Midnight Rider." They didn't say anything about The ABB or Gregg Allman but Doug Gray said it was the first time they ever played the song in concert.
