Praying for this!! Had the time of my life at Wrigley last year, but I'd really like to expose my friend and girlfriend to the tailgating alternative!

If all fails again in Wisconsin . Hopefully not. Come to Cincinnati . There was 10 thousand tailgating by 10am in 2017. 2000 were lined up at 630am.

I just booked a room at the Alpine Valley Resort. They wouldn't confirm it, but they also heard Jimmy is coming that weekend. Fins Up!

A Wrigley Field show on Friday, July 13th will be announced sometime Tuesday. Presale begins on Wednesday. Looks like a no-go for Alpine again.

What is your source on this?

Wrigley show on 7/13 is official now. Commercials are now playing on Chicago radio stations.

Also, Boz Scaggs is the opening act for this show.

This is a real shame as history is not kind to Alpine when he plays Wrigley.

What a terribly depressing announcement. Now it looks like I can add 2018 to 2005 and 2017 in my list of wrecked summers.

This is so disappointing. If Alpine is getting a show too, they better announce it quick.

I still don't see an announcement from Jimmy, nor one from the Cubs. Will update if I get that email.

I am hoping he goes to Alpine. I can't stand Wrigley, between the over-prices bars, traffic and stuff, I'd rather drive the 2 hours to Alpine than go there. If he doesn't, this would mark the second year in a row that I' wouldn't have gone. Wrigley just isn't worth it.

I'll get an email as soon as the Cubs announce it, and have not gotten that email yet.
To me, nothing is official until it is announced by Jimmy's social media pages, and/or venue. We have none of that yet.

I wouldn't trust the resort too much but I hope I'm wrong. Our group has been going to Buffet since his Summerfest days and last year was the first summer we hadn't seen him since the mid 90's, so I very much hope that it's true that he's coming. However, having worked at the resort for years, I can tell you that they are not affiliated with the music theater at all and know very little about the goings on up there. The only contact we ever really had with the amphitheater is when they needed to water the hill (their water ran off the same pumps as the ski hill/golf course so they needed us to start up our pumps when they wanted to water the lawn seats.) But like I said, I hope I'm wrong because we will not be going to Wrigley.

Wrigley show is not great news for Alpine. The prior two times he played Wrigley he skipped Alpine. I also recall reading that per the contract with Wrigley he couldn't play in another venue in a certain radius and Apline was in that radius.

Definitely a bummer, as I missed the tailgating, but I'm an optimist. Wrigley was a special atmosphere even with overpriced bars and poor acoustics. I'll be there, and I can't wait!

I think there’s still hope for Alpine. There’s no way he’s going to draw 43,000 at Wrigley on a Friday. It’s certainly not going to pull in the Wisconsin crowd and it’s not going to pull in the Chicago crowd who will make the drive to Alpine anyway.
July 14th at Wrigley is Def Leppard/Journey. They’re not going to be a huge draw either. I think the scheduling is just an attempt to get a second use out of the venue without having to tear down production.
I think the telling part will be what they expect to draw and whether or not they even try to sell the upper level of Wrigley. If draw is only ~15-20k, maybe even 25, that sets up for an Alpine show.
