Hi guys,
I’m also waiting on dates, particularly Alpine Valley but I’d also be interested in Orange Beach.
24 shows have been announced so far, which is 6-11 shows shy of normal, albeit he’s playing some larger venues this year, so maybe we should expect the lower end of the spectrum. It looks like Orange Beach was announced on March 9 last year for a June 6 show, and Alpine was an April 1st announcement two years ago for as a September 1st show.
Don’t get down! We’ll probably have more dates coming!

This is the first year that he hasn't played at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in a while.

Last time he skipped Houston was in 2009

Hurricane Ike did some damage to the CWMP, so they sat out the 2009 season to do repairs and upgrades. He played Frisco in 2009.
Before 2010-2017, Jimmy skipped Houston every second year on average. He didn’t play in Houston in ‘04, ‘05, or ‘06.

if it is out at the racetrack - we had fun out there. they were very accommodating to us in regards to tailgating. I think in the venue they crammed a lot of seats in the floor area but we had fun up in the lawn area.
the year the show was cancelled due to high winds, they let us stay out there to tailgate. They also opened the inside bar so we got to go inside the racetrack and drink up there too.

We were also there the two years it was in Austin. The first year (2013) it was terrible on the lawn because it was flat and had no rise. Meaning you couldn’t see the stage unless you were at the front of the lawn. All the restrooms were port-a-cans and they had no lighting around them.
The second year (2014) was better because they had fixed the lawn and added some restrooms, but not many.
Overall, Austin 360 Amphitheater is just a really sorry venue when compared to tbe CWMP. There is no shade over any of the seating, the acoustics are terrible, and there are no amenities. There are also no hotels or restaurants anywhere close to the venue. And the crowd both times wasn’t as much into the music as they were smoking dope. Many people I saw didn’t even know his music beyond “Margaritaville” and “Come Monday.” For the “live music capital of the world” it sure ranks below other venues.
They do have ample room for tailgating.
We are going to see Jack Johnson at the CWMP in April. It will be hard to go see Jimmy in Austin this year, unless he plays on a super convenient date for us.

We actually like the Austin Venue, the first year we did not get to stay for the 'next day' concert but we did the cold tailgate and had a blast. The second year we used the RV hookups and those are great, it is a bit of a walk to the big parking lot party but it was fun in both places and the RV sites were great, had water and put out our little pool. We had lawn seats but we also were on the very first row of the lawn area so it was nice. And I love the Titos bar and decent cocktails available. So all in all I would not mind going back to Austin.....

I just moved to Texas from Detroit. I hope Buffett comes to Texas, my luck now that I am here he won't do a show here. How is the tailgating? It is phenomenal at DTE in Michigan!

When he plays Frisco, the show is always on a Saturday. The venue opens the parking lots Friday afternoon. Draw your own conclusion from that.

Actually if you know the right people the party starts in the parking lot Thursday night! If you don’t know the right people you can pull in starting about 6 am Friday morning! When Jimmy goes to Frisco, we go to Frisco no matter what and we start in the parking lot Thursday night!

Neither Frisco or Houston seem to be tour stops this year as neither has been announced

Hey guys,
First post on the forum here. I'm a Frisco local and to my knowledge the Frisco show will almost certainly not happen this summer. Toyota stadium is currently undergoing construction on the south end of the stadium to add some additional covered seating, and I believe this is the main reason for Jimmy not making it to Frisco. There are two other shows (Edge Fest alternative music festival and Off The Rails Country Music Fest) that occur annually at TS and are not happening this year. For years, Edgefest has pretty much always been in April so its safe to say it wont be running this year, and OTR for the few years it has run usually happens about a month before Jimmy comes to Frisco.
The fact that all three of these staple events aren't happening seems to point towards the venue just not being ready. The project was originally to be completed sometime Summer 2018, but is now slated to finish in October, which happens to be when Jimmy gets back to the states from the Euro stint of the tour. So if the show does happen I don't believe it will be until October.
I've also corroborated this through a buddy that I've tailgated with at Frisco for the past three years. He has family friends that own the Comfort Suites on the Tollway. Apparently they coordinate with TS to set their room pricing out in advance, so they would know if a show was in the works, and according to them, there is no show.
Here's to hoping for October. As chilly as it may be.
