Good morning, Nancy and BN!
It is cold in Michigan and was a good morning to sleep in a bit. Wind Chill Advisory until 10 a.m. so it is another good day to do stuff around the house. Might watch the show tonight it if is broadcast. Will try to listen if not. Having friends over so we will see what the crowd thinks.
Take care all. Hope 2018 is spectacular!

Mornin’ folks. We’re cold here too. And both of us have colds. Good day to thaw out some chili and hamburger bbq for later. Kevin is back in bed. Getting up for breakfast and then remove 4 Christmas pictures from their frames for me wore him out. When he arises from his morning nap I’ll have him carry a small tray of decorations downstairs. (Baby steps).

Re: Nashville NYE @ the MSC
Good afternoon and Happy Nashville Buffett Day.
We have this thing down here on New Year's Eve they call Southern Times Square. They broadcast the ball dropping in Times Square on a giant video screen and they also drop a big disco ball type thing from the arm of a crane, then shoot off fireworks at midnight. They have live bands, food and a beer garden. I've gone twice and I've had a good time but I think I'll stay home this year. The forecast is for a low temperature of 22 and wind chill in the teens. I have a cold already, I don't want it to get worse.
Just for laughs, I checked the weather in NYC. It's 15 degrees right now and the low tonight is supposed to be 9 with wind chill between 0 and -5. People are probably in Times Square already. Thank you but no. I saw the ball drop live once, that's all I need.

I forgot to add, if anyone is a Breaking Bad fan, AMC is rerunning the entire series starting at 2:00 this afternoon. I didn't check the schedule but I don't think they're running every episode back to back without a break. I think they might be doing one season per day or something like that. I've already seen it 5 or 6 times so I think I'll just watch select episodes this time around.

Happy New Year's Eve.
Sad day in our 'neighborhood'. One of the Douglas County Sheriff Deputy died a few hours ago from gunfire. We live in this same county.
At least the bad guy is dead.
There is a procession of his body that will pass on the highway that runs in front of our apartment in just a few minutes.
There are several other deputies and civilians injured.
Hope your day and evening is what you'd like it to be. And I hope those who don't feel well, are better soon.

When we were young, we'd go out celebrating with a group of friends on NYE. We'd pay too much for a pre-fixe dinner and drink too many too expensive drinks. As we got older, we'd just stay home and watch the celebrations on TV. Now that we're "old", we're usually asleep well before midnight and hope that the darn neighbors don't set off to many fireworks and wake us up!
Everybody be safe out there!

I love sleeping in the new year! When the kids were little we got to do that often. We would move the clocks forward so the kids could "ring in the new year" and put them in bed by 9. Nowadays we ring in the New Year at midnight and shuttle out people hopefully by 12:30SeattleParrotHead wrote: ↑December 31, 2017 2:15 pm When we were young, we'd go out celebrating with a group of friends on NYE. We actually were at a brewery/tap room in that exact intersection yesterday. But it's about 15 minutes NW of us.tailgaitingph wrote: ↑December 31, 2017 4:50 pm I read about this & wondered if it was near you. So sad & WAY too much of this crap going on these days!

Re: Nashville NYE @ the MSC
Hi tailgaitingph,
The leg is coming along well. The surgeon is happy for me to get back into everything.
Took the kayaks out for a short run the last couple of mornings. Christmas and everything else has really stolen my fitness!
I know it's an old wives tale but the saltwater while it stings in the wounds, does make them feel better. But I guess we knew that!
We did have a bit of excitement, a seaplane crashed not far from here yesterday - sadly there were no survivors. It happened quite near where we had been paddling, thankfully we had already left the area. (My days of being a 'rescue swimmer' are long over. It's a young'uns game that one).

Glad to hear you're mending. I had a wound MANY years ago, and went swimming in the ocean. It healed within a few weeks after that.Rabbitz wrote: ↑December 31, 2017 7:10 pm I know it's an old wives tale but the saltwater while it stings in the wounds, does make them feel better. Sorry to hear about the lives lost.

I grew up on the beach and we never hesitated to swim with cuts and the like. We believed it helped, although I suspect it soothed our souls more than anything else
Then again I have also had tropical ulcers from the greeblies in tropical water - that wasn't much fun. Made worse when I got home and the local medico's weren't exactly clued up on tropical medicine. I guess they don't see too many tropical ulcers here in Sydney.
