I hate you Ticketmaster!!!!

Ok, so I could very well have 2 sets of tickets but Ticketmaster online s***s! I got 4 tix for the Aug. 31 Mansfield show, entered my information and submitted it. I got a nearly blank confirmation page that said ticketmaster and had a "back" button. I tried resubmitting several times and got the same error. Of course, that show sold out in no time so I tried the Thursday show. I got 4 more tix and on this machine I had Express Ordering setup. I clicked the "Buy them now" button and I got the same error! Ticketmaster's excuse was that the system was overloaded. Well either upgrade your d*mn systems so they can handle the demand or else don't sell tix online. GOD! had to vent, sorry. I also love the fact that even before tix went onsale TicketsNow.com was selling Buffett concerts at insane prices. This is so messed up.

I've had decent luck with TM.com before...I've gotten 3 other Jimmy shows. In fact, when I tried for Dave Matthews in Boston tickets this year, it was the first time I was shut out because the system was that bad. It's one thing if the system is busy and can't even find tickets for you. But when it finds the tickets and you submit the order but it fails...that's what makes me most angry.

Dewey, dear, we all can relate to similar experiences. We DO feel your pain, but perhaps your unhappiness would be put to its best use by telling all this to Ticketmaster. It really does help companies know that there is a need for change if they hear from customers. At the top of their website's home page is a "help" icon; you can start there and it takes you to an online form you can email them. Basically, they can't know that you're unhappy unless you tell them. It may even make you feel a little better.

Glad to hear that you did, Dewey. You'll probably get a form letter reply, but any company worth its salt will track the type of complaints they get, and believe me change DOES happen. Without going into detail, I am in a position to know how these things work from the company's end (no, I don't work for Ticketmaster! )

Those sec 9 tickets for $700+ are the old lawn section at Great Woods. Depending on which row they are you may not be able to see the stage. Ticketmaster is Bad and the Venue is ripping people off left and right but for these thiefs to try and sell a 59 dollar obstructed view seat for 700 bucks takes the cake.

I got tickets from a ticket agency and I paid $169.00 for lawn seats on 8/31 show. But I was in the cold waiting to help friends who couldn't afford to pay that much for tickets. I however was hoping to get the better seats and NOTHING. They sold out before it was my turn and I was only the 30th person in line. But I have my tickets so I'll see you all there at THE LABOR DAY WEEKEND SHOW!

It sounds like those in the cold didn't have much luck either so why freeze my arse off? Do these venues have little agreements with ticketbrokers? Because eBay's little disclaimers say they can only charge whatever is printed on the ticket, plus $2. And on most of these they say face value is $198 each or something. Are they flat out making the number up or is Tweeter Center selling tickets to brokers at higher prices just for the luxury of being able to sell it even higher?

I like the way the only basher has to post as anonymous.
The bottom line is this; come ticket day it's all about luck, standing in line might work, ordering online might work, using the telephone might work but once you decide which option you are going to use you are committed and if it doesn't work out you live with it and move on to plan B. I perfer standing in line because I have gotten tickets that way, last year I tried on line and got shut out.

Well put, Tampico -- it's all a crap shoot. I've been very lucky with on-line until this morning, and I was completely shut out trying for GW for a friend. But I also got pavillions for Atlanta, lawns for Pittsburgh, both sorts for Houston & great seats for Vegas on-line, so who can tell? I'm just grateful to have gotten tickets at all, and it seems to work out okay if someone in your group (or on the ticket exchange) has fair tendencies. (And, may I say publicly, a big thank you to Amy for the Vegas/Atlanta trade.)

I sttod in line and was number two in the lottery to buy tickets for the Alpine Valley show. The first guy in line got horrible pavillion seats and I got lawn seats. How can the entire pavillion sell out in one minute? Is Ticketmaster doing advance sales to brokers? I can't see how this could happen if the sales were handled as advertised.
