We are all complaing about how horrible ticket bastard is......HOWEVER nobody is p***ing and moaning about the tix exchange on this site. IE....Alpine August 24th...lawn seats for 75$ EACH! I know I stood in line and froze my ass off and luckily got 2 lawn seats......HOWEVER I only paid $37.50 a tix! I agree whoever is selling them might need to recoop the shipping and handling charges....but thats insane! The exchange is set up to help others score a tix and see the show....like a real Buffett phan would want! 75$ for a 40$ ticket......let me bend over while I pick up my money clip for yah!

well I know that if I wanted to go to the Alpine show and my choices were to go through an agency and pay $100+ or pay $75 through this exchange, then I would be very happy that it is posted here. It's unfortunate that people have to pay so much but this topic has been beaten to death. The bottom line is $75 isn't that much for a lawn seat if scalping is your only option.

Thank you Brian...that was my point! It was established to help fellow Phans find tix...I can see maybe selling a 40$ tix for 45$ to make up postage or other charges(I drank a few beers while waiting in line to keep warm) But to charge 35$ over what u paid for the ticket...thats just getting raped! We are all b****in about ticket bastard......however no one is complaining about our supposed fellow "phans" on our site!

let me ask you guys this... It appears that nobody on the exchange is selling tickets for face value. So according to you guys there should be nobody posting their tix on the exchange for sale. Would you rather have the option to pay $75 and go and enjoy yourself or sit at home because that option wasn't given to you? If they didn't post them here they would post them elswhere and somebody would have the opportunity to buy them. Me... I would rather shell out the cash and enjoy myself than sit at home and complain that I couldn't find a $37 lawn ticket.

I'm pretty sure the webmaster eliminates those postings. The way to go is to post a wanted ad and let someone reply to you. There are some very honest people out there. I got hooked up with great seats for West Palm Beach last year at face value from someone that saw my ad looking for tix the week of the show. I couldn't thank the guy enough. If I had extra tix, I would definitely try to help out an honest person rather than pork someone. I hope phjim webmaster goes in and deletes them.

by the way the exchange is nothing more than a classified section in your local newspaper. You guys are both saying that it was not set up for scalping and is suppose help phellow phans find tickets... well that's what it is doing, it's giving you another option. Nobody says you have to buy these tickets. On 2002-03-25 15:26, DenverBrian wrote:
I don't think that was the point.
The exchange was not set up for scalping tickets even if it is cheaper than all of the other brokers.

This topic is like Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th, it just won't die! I got tickets I was lucky, if i didn't I would pay what it took to get them and I would be glad the exchange was there. If you put as much energy as you do comlaining about Ticketmaster into coming up with a plan to get tix when they went on-sale then you would have tix! I know Ragtop Had a plan, when that plan looked bleak he went to plan B, same here I was down to plan C and I got my tix! The bottom line is this, Great Woods seats 40,000 for two shows, there are far more than 40,000 fans who want tickets, so if all 40,000 tickets went to fans there would be plenty who didn't get tickets who would LOVE to have a Ticket Exchange, Broker, Scalper etc.... to buy from. Am I saying Scalpers are good to have around Hell no but they are there and they aren't going away so we have to live with them!
I for one was third in line THIRD!!!! The two people in front of me were working for a scalper who wasn't shy about it. I ended up with section 14 Pavilion! Crappy seats for being third inline but i am not complaining or pointing fingers!

Ragtop.....Like I said b4 in my post...I did score 2 tix to Alpine....I was shafted last year with only 2 lawn seats(needed 4) and ended up being Lucky(I guess u could call it that)and buying 4 reserved tix from a broker that couldnt sell his tix so he put them on Ebay and I scored them for 10 above face value(reserved 17th row!) Now if u r saying that the fellow "phans" on this site are not scalpers than I say *****! I called my local ticket connections broker here in Milwaukee this a.m. .......and guess what. Lawn seats...sure I have em 75$ a ticket...hmmmm sure sounds like a scalper or a broker to me! My point is and not 2 beat a dead horse or ramble on.....When I recvd my 4 reserves I sold my 2 extra lawn seats on cobo for face value.....never met the dude b4 in my life but I trusted him and met him in the parking lot b4 the concert and sold him the tickets. Thats what the exchange is and should b 4!

BOR:
I respect you highly, and have always enjoyed reading your posts. However, I *did* put quite a bit of energy into getting tickets. Even before tickets went onsale, I was working the phones and the net to confirm the Great Woods onsale date. Like many members of our online community, I posted any info I found out.
This Saturday, I dragged my weary a** out of bed at 7:30 AM to make it to Great Woods at 9:45 A.M., where I froze waiting outside for almost two hours. Keep in mind that I had been in bed with the flu all week. I felt like crap, but I wasn't going to let mere illness keep me from the Labor Day weekend show!
As I've detailed elsewhere (and as corroborated by others who were there, including CaribbeanSoul) the Great Woods lottery was FIXED. My boyfriend and I drew crappy numbers (and yes, we separated to better our chances). We didn't even bother waiting - we hopped in the car and sped to his nearby office with its T3 connection to the net. Each of us took a computer and a phone and busted our butts trying to get tickets. We got nothing.
*If* the lottery had been fair and *if* Ticketmaster's telephone centers and web servers had sufficient capacity to handle fan demand, I wouldn't be p***ed that I missed out. Because the systems in place clearly favor scalpers over fans, I've chosen to speak up, not just on this board, but to Ticketmaster and Great Woods. If I don't get satisfaction from them, then I'll send the information to various consumer advocates and media outlets and see what happens from there. Yes, I'm p***ed off and I have *every* right to be. However, I'm choosing to take constructive action to try to improve things.
JMHO,
Deb.

I don't even know what the hell your talking about. The guy selling his tickets on this exchange for $75 is a scalper, I never denied that. This is the price he chose to sell them for. Tell me who told you that this exchange here on Buffettnews was set up to sell tickets only at face value for the "real fans"? The only thing the exchange does is give people an option if they want it. That's it, nothing more nothing less. Congratualations on selling your tickets for face value, I had extra's last year and also sold them for face value. Maybe we should both get friggin medals for this? We chose to sell ours for this price and he chose to sell his for another price.

Dude u r sooooo missing my point. I am not asking for a friggin medal...My point is that I would NEVER sell a tix to a fellow phan 4 more than what I paid for it...dont want an award or an atta boy or a slap on the ass. U r 100% correct he choses to buy them at one price and sell them at an inflated price.....I do believe that is what is defined as a scalper or broker. Thats what I am b****ing about...if u wanna be a broker or scalper...get a liscense to resell the ticket, a computer, phone and run an ad in the yellow pages. All WE are doing by supporting this jirbroni and choosing 2 buy his $75 ticket is helping him out! We are giving him free ad space by allowing him 2 sell his inflated tickets here on this website......hell while were at it lets post a "pot page" oh wait.....thats illegal also...kinda like scalping tickets. U may choose 2 buy from this loser(I wanna go 2 the show just as bad as u do) But I will however look to a true fellow "phan" 2 help me out 4 my ticket needs!

I don't think I'm missing your point at all. Your p***ed because people on this site and exchange are selling tickets for more than what they paid. Like I said 100 times earlier, this exchange was set up to give people options, it was never set up to sell tickets at face value and nor should it have been. If that was the case the exchange would pretty much be empty accept for the adds looking to buy tickets. Your right there are people out there that sell tickets to phellow parrotheads for face value because they want to help them out (you and I)and I'm all for that while others want to make a profit. Do actually think that if he couldn't post it here that he would have a hard time selling those tickets elsewhere. I don't think so. Why not give those without tix the option if they want it.
