I assume you run in shallows and sand bars a lot.

Experimented with the first of the Suzuki jets outboards, waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy back in the late 70s or early 80s. We were using them in the surf on 15 or 16 foot RHIBs.

They went like the clappers but had two weaknesses - cavitation in whitewater so you lost all power (which can literally be deadly in big surf) and plastic bags (again deadly in the break). Tons of fun though.

Did some big rescues with them and the inboard jet boats we used to run. Like these ones:

Cool video, Rabz! I run the Allegheny, a shallow, rocky river. The 70 miles I boat is easily run, except one set of rapids I fear. White water can cavitate and bags s*** as well. I found a bag miles from the ramp in lake Erie with my little prop tiller. That was cary at first. I thought I had engine trouble.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Well I've just had a squint at some images and vids of the Allegheny.

If we ever get back to the US, you might just have a temporary boating buddy, because that area looks very nice :)

Also, one of the maps seemed to say that the county is named after me...

Ha! Yes, that's my county. You're welcome to come for a river run on a return trip. :D
