Doyle Grisham - Part 1
Doyle Grisham - Part 2

Doyle’s pedal steel guitar playing was once referred to as “tasty” by Rolling Stone magazine, and we have to agree. He has appeared on many classic and modern country albums, as well as countless albums from Jimmy Buffett. All of those great classic Buffett songs from the 1970s that featured pedal steel guitar–Come Monday, Why Don’t We Get Drunk…, He Went to Paris, the list goes on and on. In fact, with the exception of one Buffett album–EVERY Buffett album which features pedal steel guitar owes credit to Doyle Grisham.

We get the complete story about how Doyle Grisham started on the pedal steel guitar, and some of his opinions, and his first impressions when meeting a young Jimmy Buffett. All of this, plus tons of great music featuring this nostalgic and unique sounding instrument. Aside from the Jimmy Buffett classics and music from Doyle’s former side project–the Bandits.

In Part 2 Doyle talks about what it was like coming back to tour with Buffett after all of those years, the song that means the most to him, how he likes to spend his down time on the road and at home, his old band ‘The Bandits,’ and also some memories from the recording of Livin’ and Dyin’ in ¾ Time. We have a lot of classic and modern Buffett for you to listen to, as well as a few curve balls.

Peter Mayer - Part 1

Peter Mayer - Part 3

Peter Mayer is an anomaly in the world of music. He is an accomplished singer, songwriter, guitarist, and front man for the Peter Mayer Group. He has written many wonderful songs for not only his own band, but has been covered by artists ranging from Vanessa Williams to Jimmy Buffett. He has been featured on many albums and has been the longest running guitarist in the history of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band (nearly 20 years).

Time After Island Time hooked up with Peter Mayer upon returning from Cancun, Mexico with Jimmy Buffett. He gave an in-depth interview about his music, his life, his feelings and he even played some songs on the acoustic guitar–just for you, the Time After Island Time listeners. On the second installment he talks abou the early days of PM, and also touched on their meeting with Buffett, and also a bit on the inspiration behind his song, “The Last Island.” In the third installment he plays his favorite PM song, and explains why…and also plays the song “India” and talks about how the song came to be. He talks about growing up in the country India and even plays the first Beatles song he ever heard.

Jules Harkness

Jules Harkness along with Heather Perry were dancers for Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band. We focus on the theme of dancing in this episode, and Ms. Harkness talks about how she found her way into the Coral Reefer band, auditioning for Jimmy Buffett, life on the road with the Coral Reefers, and dancing in front of thousands as well as many other activities she is involved in (writing, charity, and her husband David A. Arnold’s TV and comedy career).
