Review of the Pittsburgh Show

The Post-Gazette has a review of Tuesday night’s show at the First Niagara Pavilion: “Buffett sails into summer with sea of Parrotheads

Before a sea of beachballs sailing off the fins of thousands of overserved Parrotheads, Jimmy Buffett christened the summer season Tuesday night at First Niagara Pavilion.

The vibrant Hawaiian shirts, flowery leis and hula skirts typical of concert-goers at a Jimmy Buffett concert was quite apropos to the first official calendar day of summer.

“I think it’s time to celebrate,” the son of a sailor shouted before he launched into a two-hour set with “The Wino and I Know.” He followed immediately with the radio-friendly “Brown Eyed Girl,” which has typically fallen deeper into the set list on the Welcome to Fin Land 2011 Tour but was called up for the occasion.

No one seemed to mind the thick forks of lightning that began striking the purple summer sky as Mr. Buffett returned to the stage, encoring with an acoustic “Stories You Could Tell,” dedicated to Clarence Clemons of the E Street Band, who died Saturday.

The setlist from the show is available here.
