The longtime musical director of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band, Mr. Utley first worked with Jimmy Buffett in January of 1973 for the album A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean and continued collaborating on stage and in the studio until Buffett’s passing.

  3. Thanks for the interview. I grew up in Mr Utley’s hometown of Blytheville Arkansas. My first Buffett concert was in Memphis 1978 and Jimmy introduced Mr Utley as being from the nearby town of Blytheville. That was my introduction to Michael Utley, although I knew who his family was. I was pretty proud !
