Re: any bourbon drinkers

Gotta stick with my Maker's Mark.

I see that red wax behind the bar and all the other bottles fade into the shadows.

Re: Terrorists win again

I have to agree with Brad. Choosing to let nineteen dead 9/11 hijackers serve as representatives for an entire religion (the world's largest at this point) is not only wrong, it plays into the hands of extremists and demagogues by allowing them to claim a religious authority they don't really posse...

Re: Terrorists win again

Linky A proposal to build a mosque steps from Ground Zero received the support of a downtown committee despite some loved ones of 9/11 victims finding it offensive. The 13-story mosque and Islamic cultural center was unanimously endorsed by the 12-member Community Board 1's financial district commi...

Re: Tournament Pick'em

Well, I am not completely out of it yet. There are four people who can still get points in this bracket. Ant Dot, currently #1, picked WVU to go to the finals but then had Pitt winning it all. Me, currently tied at 6 with Semi-Pro Story had WVU going on to win it all. Semi-Pro Story has Duke advanci...

Re: Tournament Pick'em

I have 1 of my final four teams still in play. That's what happened to me last year. This year I didn't even bother to look at the brackets let alone fill one out.    SInce I know nothing of college basketball, I pick schools where people I know people attended. Re: The census & Content of character

4 Assess racial disparities with health and environmental risks. Whats that have to do with a numeric count of the people of this country. What a joke. Nothing, strictly speaking, but if you have 1000 people who live in an area and 50 get [cancer, autism, whatever non-communicable disease], it woul...

Re: The census & Content of character

Personally, I'm more annoyed that the government spent tax dollars on a letter we received about 10 days ago telling us to look for the up coming census mailing. GUESS WHAT Congress - those who aren't going to send the census form back aren't going to read that letter either......that's my vent for...

Re: The census & Content of character

I I checked "other" for everyone in my household and wrote in "American". Just a small rant. That's funny - kinda of like the times I wrote "YES" on forms that asking about sex...(meaning male or female). I've also been know to give 555-1212 for my phone number. Usuall...

The census & Content of character

I know it's been a while and I am leary of posting a curmudgeonly topic for my first return post, but I couldn't hold this in. I filled out our census form last night and I am slightly annoyed by the form. First: In the intructions it states that you are not to include, in your household, people in ...

Phin Power Request

We had some shocking and tragic news this past weekend. This is the sister of one of my wife's friends going back to high school. Please keep the girls and their families in your thoughts and prayers and send whatever good energy you can to them as they figure out how to . . . what, live? move on? s...

Re: Duggars expecting baby #19 in March 2010

Let's see: 1) Independently wealthy, and they built that wealth it's not inherited. 2) They have no debt. 3) They are chosing to have a really, really big family. Quick everyone get the picks, axes and torchs. But really, how is what they are chosing to do a bad thing? I have heard at least a dozen...
