I don't think a lack of connection is the issue - it's the cheesy side taking over which seems to want to cater to concert goers that like the drunk bar song silly stuff rather than the singer songwriter who once didn't have include steal drums on songs.

I can remember the last time they were not good to him. I thumbed through an issue a week or two ago, where they listed the top 50 live performers. He was not listed at all. (I will find out tomorrow if I think he deserves to be on the list.)

The days of his songwriting being mentioned in the same breath as Prine, Clark, Goodman, Walker, etc. has long since passed. Especially when he records crap like "Too Drunk To Karaoke" and "I'm No Russian", both of which are downright embarrassing.

he's a songwriter singing about the world around him. All kinds of people listen to Jimmy, even propagandist asses like Dick Armey.

How about "concert performances you already have."

Why not release the 80's concert, or better yet an unreleased 90's one if available as well as the video collection that came out on tape unfortunately right when DVD's hit the scene.

What a wasted opportunity.

Hot Water is a gem with "Bring back the Magic," "That's What Living is to Me" and a couple others, though it does have a few weak ones like the very forgettable opener.

Now Lizard... that's a tough one to defend.

One, I don't believe this is even an American production. Two, from what little I know, it's not a Bush bashing film. His persona is used because it is contemporary. I might be wrong about this and either way I don't like that they did it.

Wow Whoop is really taking a beating. I guess nobody here cares for Mark Knopler's style or amazing guitar playing. This is Jimmy's best vocals in a long time.

Too often now, he sounds more like talking than singing (doesn't help with the actaul talking that he does in songs).

First listens are ok ...
