Little Feat

I had to laugh when somebody compared Little Feat with the Doobie Brothers. Feat was head and shoulders above the Doobies. I would equate them more with the Dead. They toured several times with the Dead and swapped the coveted closing spot with them. I could be wrong but I think Buffett opened for ...

NOLA TICKETS

It took a while for ticketmaster to finally start selling tickets for the NOLA show this morning. I tried just after 11 and finally got the "find tickets" link. Somehow I scored two seats in the second row of section 1. Ticketmaster accepted my order, but now I'll have to wait and see if they'll ...

Yeah, I just tried to buy tix for that show and can't get any. Kind of a strange restriction. If anybody in that section of the country has any extras please let me know. I'll be in NOLA that week and would love to see the show.

Favorite Lines On LTC

My two favorite lines on LTC are both on Coastal Confessions. I love it when Jimmy says, "Lets go to church, Sonny" right before Landreth's solo. And its great when Bubba sings, "...just an altar boy covering his ass." You can actually tell he's laughing when he delivers that line. As an alum of St ...

This is a great venue. Also known as the Mahalia Jackson Theater. Its one of those beautiful places such as The Fox in Atlanta. Seeing Bubba here will be a major event. The neighborhood is dicey though. I would suggest any out of towners stick to United cabs and stay out of Louis Armstrong Park.

MGVL STICKER

I know where to pick up the "University of Margaritaville" stickers, but today I saw a car with a "MGVL" sticker on it. It was one of the white ovals with black lettering. Usually they have the abbreviation for a beach on them like "LBI" (long beach island) or OIB for Ocean Isle Beach. Can anybody ...

CHESNEY SHOW

Went to see Kenny Chesney Friday night at the same venue we saw JB about a month ago. A bit of a let down. Chesney is high energy and it was kind of fun, but it just wasn't the same. Right from the start you could tell how different. There were lots of people tailgating, but no imagination at all ...

BRIDGES TO HAVANA

I was there and can tell you why Jimmy looks bored. I was covering the Pope's visit to Cuba for CNN. We had ramped up for wall to wall coverage -- we had even shipped tons of equipment there on a ship. But the Monica Lewinsky-Bill Clinton story broke that week and we hardly got on the air. So dozens ...

Its Not Country

After several listenings to LTC I've realized its not really a country CD. Its more of a "Little Feat goes to New Orleans" CD. The first time I heard "Hey Good Looking" (live in ATL) I thought it had a real New Orleans feel. The drum shuffle and the Sonny Landreth's slide are straight NOLA stuff ...
