The last I heard, the new album is to be released in October 2006. But I'm sure with Mailboat Records it will be delayed. Its title as of now, is Party At The End Of The World. Welcome to BN! As you can see, we maintain a lot of faith in Mailboat Records release dates...all based on their previous ...

I think the voice I was hearing and referring to is definitely Orbison, upon listening again. About the 4:10 mark in the song, the backup singer that's mirroring JB's lyric I'm almost 100% positive is Orbison. You can hear it in the vibratto of the voice.

Pretty neat!

Re: Regis & Kelly and Today show in early May

Okay...I am probably being dumb here, but I notice that the times listed in this post say 7-10 AM Eastern, and 9 AM Eastern. That is also the listing for Central time. I just didn't realize that was possible, and I don't want to miss recording! This is because it's a syndicated program and c...

Well that is certainly very interesting! The voice I was hearing certainly does sound Orbison-y, but when I first heard it I was thinking Meat Loaf or something.

Beyond the End question

I did a little research and didn't find anything to help me answer this question, so I'm going to throw it out here:

Anyone know for sure who's singing backup on "Beyond the End"? The voice sounds familiar to me, so I'm curious.

Thanks in advance!

Maybe, and then there will be two "American Werewolf in London" references abound: Jimmy's version of "Werewolves of London" and a decaying body.

(Ugh, I'm going to be sick...) :pirate:

FSOTW and 'Cakes

I like nearly all of Jimmy's music, but I really think these are two albums that sometimes don't get the credit they deserve. Sure, they are talked about from time to time, but I think they are solid albums. They both get pretty heavy rotation in my playlists. And I'll beat everyone to the punch by ...

I'm really p*** that I didn't get a job at Rolling Stone and now I have to write for AOL. I think that about hits the nail on the head. I think there are a lot of things on that list that are questionable at best, and downright wrong and insane at worst. The author is a real numbnuts if they were b...

I voted for A1A because it is the set with the most songs that I really like. However, it was very hard to vote against SOASOAS just because of my love affair with "The Cost of Marseilles" (not just Jimmy's version, but the song in general).

This is a great thread guys!

I've only heard it once, but my initial reaction is: what the hell was Jimmy thinking? I support Jimmy and I think he's brilliant, but this song just never gets off the ground. It sounds like he was really tired, really high, and/or really hungover when he recorded this baby. Just not what I was hop...

5. "Live From" Cincy I thought this was a good one, too. I think Buffett's Cincy shows are usually some of the best, as he has a connection to the city. Parrotheads were named there, and Cincy continues to welcome Buffett with open arms every year. The whole town gets excited for it. If y...

I have to say that I agree with the crowd that isn't crazy about this one. I had very high hopes for this one, because I love Zevon's version (and even Adam Sandler's tribute version). However, Jimmy just doesn't seem to have it on this track. It sounds kind of empty, and his singing is slipshod at ...

I would say in the beginning he had a lot of say and hands-on involvement, but now I assume it's mostly independent of him. Sure he stays involved, but the RM people have become self-sufficient and able to make programming choices based on the guidance from Jimmy in the early days of RM. I'm sure th...

I was kinda thinking it was supposed to be a reflection of Buffett's tastes which definitely aren't tropical only. This is what I gather from it. It's not supposed to be Jimmy Buffett Radio, it's supposed to reflect Jimmy's tastes in music. He's said several times (and it's referenced on the RM web...

You can never go wrong with "The Old Man and the Sea" (and you can easily read it in one afternoon, including taking breaks for swimming and making rum drinks). My personal suggestion is "Forrest Gump" by Winstom Groom--the original novel, not the movie adaptation. It's quite pos...

He doesn't talk politics on stage. And that's what I love. He's able to have his opinions and beliefs and stick to them without running his mouth about it constantly. I'm pretty liberal, but I get sick of celebrities that think just because they are famous they are knowledgable enough to discuss po...
