A Joke My Daughter Wrote

My daughter has a great sense of humor. She wrote this joke last fall. It's NOT a racist joke. ======================================================= Question: What do you call a rich black man that goes around asking poor white people for change? Answer: Barack Obama  Now that's funny... I do...

It's funny, even though I'm definitely not a kid anymore, I still love to play DJ. I do it in my car (by myself), or in my backyard setting up playlists for pool parties, etc.

Hey Loren. By the way... do we know if she's on BN at all? Wouldn't it be great if an honest-to-goodness BN'er had some influence over the station?

Trip Around the Sun, no contest. The song is better, the chord progression is more sophisticated and the arrangement is just dreamy. The words are really insightful and mean a lot to me.

Re: Buffett Music is Played in The Strangest Places

Not really a strange place I guess, but a couple of my co-workers and myself were walking down to Spec's for lunch one day and Margaritaville was being blasted from speakers in front of one of the buildings here downtown. One of my co-workers looked at me and said 'Hey...isn't that your song?' :rol...

Buffett Music is Played in The Strangest Places

I haven't started a topic in so long. When I first joined BN, I think I started many more topics than I do these days. But, after reading the surgery music thread, an idea occurred to me. I heard Buffett playing in a swanky golf course clubhouse cafe a couple of years ago. That was really wierd. ( A...

I was in Panama City Beach a couple of weeks ago and I have to admit, I became keenly aware of the increase in all the jet ski activity in the previously remote areas of the bay. I had to think about Blanton Meyercord and giggle.

Re: Looked Strange To Me

The Manfield show opened with the National Anthem which was a great touch. But the tradition when the National Anthem plays is for men to take off their hats. All those around me in the arena did. But the musician on stage playing it, Shimabukuro, had a hat on. When I was young and in the army, I s...

Re: Salty Piece of Land Song

My understanding is that it was an outtake from the License to Chill sessions. Wasn't it? For my purposes, I edited the MP3 tags to include it on my Beach House On The Moon album. To me, the song styling, chords and instrument arrangements sound more like a cut from "Beach House On The Moon&qu...

Re: Those who've met (or know) JB: what sorta guy is he, really?

I met JB on the sidewalk beside the Boston Public Gardens on the day between Fenway shows. For the 30 seconds I talked to him, he was a baseball fan still on a high from playing Fenway Park. I'm sure if I'd bothered him beyond saying "hello and thanks for a great show" while we waited for...

Re: Yellow Submarine

When I first saw the title of this thead (and hadn't peeked at any set lists), I thought "why on Earth does someone want to talk about one specific Beatles song"? Then, of course, I quickly figured out that Jimmy had added it to the set list. My immediate reaction was to make a face...
