Re: A Lot to Drink about
I bet if folks actually called their Representatives and let them know how they felt at 2am...the next day the Feds would stop by and make sure they did not drink for the next 4 years, 2 years if they had good behavior

I have next Saturday off..... I am thinking this might be a great time to go make my pilgrimage back to Kalamazoo. Been way too long since I have been there, and I need to stock up my fridge which is looking quite bear. Hopefully I can get a case of Cherry Stout, and some other great fall warmers. ...

Re: supplemental Medicare insurance?
As far as supplemental plans go, Plans F & G are the most comprehensive. If you want a list of ALL plans in your state, the Department of Insurance should have it. A Plan F is a Plan F no matter who sells it. The price difference is usually due to commission for agents. Unless you are turning 65...

Re: The Affordable Care Act and YOU
Just got our notice yesterday. We had a HDHP to start with and essentially a similar plan will be $300/m higher. It will cover things like mental health/dental and pregnancy (which is not needed) The family deductible and co-pays will be alot higher. No good at all for us. I assume the only winners ...

Re: Where to eat in the Keys
Just to add a few places in Marathon...Island Fish Co was tasty and on the water. Favorite place was Keys Fisheries Restaurant. Had a separate bar that is two stories up to enjoy the views. Restaurant eating is outside on picnic tables. Nothing fancy but a neat place and crab claws are a specialty a...

Re: Any Electricians Out There?
I'm going to install a ceiling fan in a room with no existing overhead fixture by running wires up inside the wall from a switched outlet in the room. Should I/do I need to put the Romex wires inside of conduit? Romex is designed to be used in walls without being put into conduit. As for your local...

Re: Any Electricians Out There?
not an electrician but...I'd say no. Conduit is only needed if the wire is exposed to the elements, near water, underground etc. If the wire is hidden in a wall you should be fine. Does not sound like a fun job. Best do it soon before the attic gets real hot.

I'll spend my $26 the old fashioned way...on a bar stool for a couple hours getting a buzz that won't go away after a few seconds. Call me cheap if you wish, but a buzz should be enjoyed as long as possible.

Re: Upcoming Outer Banks Vacation
I'll second Hateras and Manteo are a must see. A lot of the activities/shops/grocery stores etc are in the Kill Devil Hills/Nag Heads areas so as your driving thru pay attention to whats around then you can go back later to do what you want. Jockey's Ridge has kites/hang-gliding/para-sailing and the...

Re: Who's going to Kansas City 4/30/11 ??
Just got 2 seats on the floor. Got them after the first search did not go thru. Pretty easy considering some of the ticketmaster headaches in the past. It will be interesting to see him indoors but these are much closer seats than I've had at any other show. Looking forward to 4/30.

Re: Infused vodka
I've only drank it, never made it. I do not think it needs to mature. It is thicker than water. Its very smooth but certainly packs a punch. Only peppermint schnapps I like other than this is Rumplemintz(sp?) No vodka, but this recipe makes very good peppermint schnapps. Its a staple during the wint...

Re: Opinions for new washer/dryer!!
Bought a pair of LG front-loaders this spring. They are very handy and easy to use. We do leave the washer door open to dry just to be safe. Even though the pedestals are way over priced you need them. Seems like the washer uses a glass full of water as opposed to bath tub full top loader. They do s...

Its a staple during the winter. 11 C. water 6 C. sugar 1 oz. peppermint extract 1 750 ml Everclear Combine the water and sugar in a big pot and bring to a boil. Boil for 2 min. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 min. Remove from heat and cove...
