Have you ever done a home exchange?
We are thinking of enrolling in a vacation home exchange. But first I need to do some minor tweeking here on my property, exp. on the rooms being vacated by college kids. We are in a prime location that I think people might like to stay in, two blocks from the center of the beach and boardwalk, righ...

Re: romantic getaway nj/pa
It is looking like Lancaster is what we'll do. Is a Sat./Sun visit bad. We will get there by 8am Sat. I'm worried because I remember alot of things being closed on Sundays. We've done most of the biggy things before like visiting an amish farm and house and buggy rides. We just want to relax, go to ...

romantic getaway nj/pa
I know I live in a beautiful place. But we have a business in our home and it is sometimes difficult to relax. We want to do a weekend getaway, low cost. We would like to not have it be a scheduled crazy go go go trip. Apple picking might be nice or country rides great breakfast is always a good thi...

Re: Rust off of Cast Iron?
My son's argument is that their pans are so well seasoned nothing sticks to them. Therefore, mine aren't not seasoned so well so things stick. If I would break the cycle of using soap and water on them I would have a more seasoned pan and therefore nothing would stick. I don't know. I like the idea ...

Re: Rust off of Cast Iron?
I have used both steel wool, sos and the salt method. All of them work. It doesn't matter I think, what you do as you are going to have to re-season anyway. I have also put it in the oven, gotten it hot and put a bit of oil in it and scrubbed. If it is not perfect it's ok. You just may have to re-se...

Infused vodka
I have a large quantity of some herbs growing here as well as some hot peppers. I'm thinking of doing some infused vodka. What I have alot of - Rosemary, tarragon, thai basil, oregano, sage, thyme and several types of hot peppers esp. asian chilis. Have you ever done this? I have made limoncello sev...

Re: Grog is 1 Year Old today!!!!
I think this is very interesting and cool. I can't wait to try it. What type of spice will the spiced vodka be, not asking you to give away trade secrets. Is it like a spiced rum. That should be very interesting if so. We frequently have a beer project going here and have done home made limoncello a...

Re: Are you a risk taker?
Or a careful person ? My sis wants Mr and hubby to move to Chicago and enter a business venture. Tempting but stressful. Chicago is a PERFECT place to come. Cold crappy weather, lots of UNEMPLOYMENT, TONS of Illegal Immigrants. Start learning Spanish and Polish, because they infest the city. Oh yea...

Re: Are you a risk taker?
I know as I type it I'm just not going to do it. But I suspect it's possible I'll kick myself. Sis can't move because her husband has too many years invested in his job. My husband is currently, unfortunately not working, at least for another company. He would be very likely to find a much better pa...

Re: Should I jump on the crazy hurricane get ready bandwagon?
The storm was nothing here, but very big waves. It looked like it would have been fun to be in OBX. No real damage but great wind and waves and rain. They did mandatory evacuation on Hatteras Island though.

Re: Are you a risk taker?
Money is there, business plan is viable. But we would not be full equal partners due to money. It's the working with family and unequally yoked thing that is actually causing me to hesitate. I have other business plans here that I've been working on that are starting to show some fruit. If I walk aw...
