Re: If your young adult child wanted to pursue a music career
f he is a person of substance and character and especially if he is smart, I would support him 100% to the exclusion of all other endeavors, including school. The only thing he is losing by pursuing his dream is time. Don’t most of us wish we had taken a shot back when there wasn’t much to lose. No ...

Re: If your young adult child wanted to pursue a music career
what would you tell them? practice, practice, Practice! I want him to follow his dream but I want a back up plan in place that will pay the bills. If he stays in school I will help with some of the bills like I was doing up to this point. Sounds like you are doing it right. Encourage him to continu...

Re: Oregon is considering a 1900% increase in beer tax
It will be tiered lowest tax to highest tax based on beer quality where only the upper quality beers will be taxed at 1900%. Your Landshark Lager will still cost the same. (HAD TO SAY IT BEFORE LARRY DID) You mean there is a water tax? and a sewer tax for when the landshark reaches it's inevitable ...

Re: If your young adult child wanted to pursue a music career
With those kinds of limits can he still pursue the music if they have a bit of traveling occasionally to do? I was thinking of getting him to do one semester of online classes. By the time the semester is over we will have a better sense of where this is going.

Re: If your young adult child wanted to pursue a music career
From an Indian perspective, the parents would try to dissuade the child from that and try to convince them in becoming a doctor, lawyer, or engineer. I, being brought up here, hated that when I was getting the "speech". I would make sure that the child has a backup in case the music caree...

Re: If your young adult child wanted to pursue a music career
I have no idea, but it might depend how talented he is? How dedicated? I think he has a long way to go and I suggested very strongly he continue with his studies and keep his day job. The band he is in however is very good. They have a tour of several House of Blues' and other places over the summe...

Re: From A Salty Piece of Land
If he enjoys it contact the museum. They have a book and video on the search for the Hatteras 1st order fresnel. It is very similar to Buffett's book. http://www.graveyardoftheatlantic.com/Shop_OnLine.htm This museum is doing a great job and is close to opening a much larger wing. I always like to g...

Re: Any teachers please help a struggling student teacher,
thanks guys. My new goal will be avoidance of the problem. I also would be very clear about rules in advance. That's where the problem came in here. The school had a no phone in school policy but did not enforce it. Currently you may have your phone in school but it must be turned off at all times. ...

Any teachers please help a struggling student teacher,
I am a student teacher in my final two weeks. I have a very strict teacher and I tend to be a bit more laid back. The past two days have been block periods. Due to approaching break they were also test day. First they take the scantron test and then the essay. It's a long period. This is the third u...

Re: Jerk Chicken
True Jerk should melt your face. In the touristy areas of Jamaica they "dumb" it down for us tourists. I prefer it somewhere in the middle. I usually try to put a little marinade under the skin and let it sit and then add some dry spices just before cooking. I try and make some for the 6/...

Jerk Chicken
how spicy should it be. I bought a bunch of excellent spices and blends from a spice house. We made jerk chicken with the blend. Yikes. MrOc loved it. I am a wimp and cried like a girl after one bite. One son loved it but on his third piece was scraping off spices. Daughter loved it. Would you use i...

Prayer request
We have had two bad scallop boat accidents back to back. Both are in the community I am doing my student teaching. The most recent one took six lives. A girl in my class lost two brothers and an uncle. It was her father's boat. Poor girl, Jr.in highschool and a good kid. Her poor family.
