Re: Guy Clark: Songs & Stories Due 8.16.11.

Here's a link to my recent interview with Verlon. Love this guy. http://www.myssnews.com/mysslife/reviews/music-reviews/15652-qaa-songwriter-verlon-thompson-works-.html FYI: That unique bass sound you hear on the release party CD? That's Bryn Davies. She's cute as a button and, man, can she make tha...

Re: 2011 Tour de France

What a time trial ride for Cadel. Congrats to Cadel Evans!! All that is left is the ceremonial ride into Paris tomorrow. I'm so happy for him. He was mighty for the entire 3 weeks, going it alone a lot of the time. Have you been reading in the blogs about the "schooling" Contador got by t...

Re: 2011 Tour de France

Great stage today. Andy powered to the top of the Galibier ... Voeckler kept yellow ... but to me, the man was Cadel Evans. Impressive. Tomorrow, Alp 'd Huez. Don't forget Contador cracked today. I know. I didn't want to gloat, in case he comes back on Huez tomorrow. [smilie=battingeyes.gif] [smili...

Re: 2011 Tour de France

Contador is getting no mercy. The peleton has a long, long memory.

Was happy to see Frank do so well yesterday ... that was a great race to the top. Was happy for Sanchez, too.

Re: 2011 Tour de France

ETP, he started and finished. Retain his Polka Dot jersey also because a teammate was on the breakway taking most of the King of the Mountain points thereby keeping others from passing him up. Can you believe it? TdF riders are something very special. Did you see the sprint this morning? In the pou...

Re: 2011 Tour de France

I was watching when it happened. Made me sick to my stomach. Did he start today? They said he had to have a LOT of stitches. This race has scared me with the number of horrific crashes. Chris Horner went down with about 20 miles to go. When he crossed the finish line and got back to the bus, he kept...

Re: Guy Clark: Songs & Stories Due 8.16.11.

I'm super stoked about the August release ... I have an unedited copy of that show ... and love it. The November tribute CDs are going to rock ... MAYBE the set will finally earn a Grammy for Guy. The line up is amazing ... So glad he included Rosie Flores and Terri Hendrix. They adore him like the ...

I like that, too. Funky place. Huge music scene. It would fit right in.

I agree with others about Dallas. WAY too uptight. UNLESS it opened on Greenville Avenue, but then that would destroy the "mid-century" atmosphere of the area. IMHO.

Re: Steve Earle

I was at my favorite used CD/record store today looking in the Steve Earl section and didn't know what to buy. I was hoping someone would share their opinion of what Steve's defining album or albums are? Thanks His tribute to Townes is a good one ... Justin sits in on Mr. Mudd and Mr. Gold. It's vi...

Re: 5th Annual Frisco Feeding Frenzy - 5/21/11

Mailboat arrived today. Thank you all for lending a hand. We're going to pay remaining medical bill balances and insurance premiums with it. Hopefully, we'll won't have to face tough times again. I'm on Mr. Mathews' insurance now. It's more expensive, but we don't have a $20K deductible anymore. I'm...

Re: What are YOU reading?

I've read all three of the Hunger Games. The second installment is my favorite of them. I attribute this to the "arena" which is a character in itself in Catching Fire and is amazing and exciting in design. I promise I won't give anything away but all three are fantastic for what they are...

Re: WAR's coming to the Kessler

Here's a 1990 clip of WAR doing SLEEPWALKING on Texas Connection. At about the 4:00 mark, the camera pans to a shot of Lyle Lovett ... look at the way the kid is watching every thing WAR does. And listen to the crowd's reaction ... they know a good thing when they hear it. :-)
