I still don't see it, especially considering Buffett's hair is blonde . Then again someone else on here recently thought a logo they saw was a rip off of Buffett's Margaritaville Tequila logo. Next thing ya know folks'll be seeing likenesses of Buffett in cheeseburgers and sellin' 'em on eBay... Ne...

[".....what came first??? JB's landshark OR SNL's landshark???? they resemble each other... so they must be related.... this dates us, doesn't it??????"] The answer is SNL's LandShark was first. It was SNL's response to the "Jaws" movie mania of the time. Obviously, Buffett was p...

ASPOL is not a great book but it's an OK read. To me, the book is at its best near the end when Buffett writes about Key West. That's the only time the prose rings true. If I could be so bold as to offer JB some advice (I am an editor and publisher) I would suggest he one day concentrate writing abo...

Here's my take on the whole Dixie Chicks brouhaha: What they said was pretty tame, that they are embarrassed that George Bush is from Texas. Of course they said it during a concert in England, but big deal. It seems that when anyone criticizes the president these days it as if he/she is also critici...

I noticed my first gray hairs about two years ago when I was 48. I still have just a few on the sides above the ears. I attribute it to remaining laid back and growing older BUT not up! 8)

I'd have gone crazy last night if he had done "Trip" with Tina Thuersday night. I was there with my kids. I lve Martina. Tina's no Martina, though... missed a few notes there, IMHO. True, just cool to hear stuff you haven't heard before on stage. I heard him do "Trip" this past ...

Yep, the song is about Jane and, as was said, the whole RITS album has their "breakup" as a backdrop. I agree that it's an under-rated album and is among JB's best. As for Mac getting the songwriting credit, it's not the only time he has written a song (or most of it) that reflects Jimmy's...

Folks, it is officially "wastin' away," but as someone said, that is the present tense. When Jimmy wrote it in the '70s, he was doin' a lot more "wastin' away" with drugs and liquor than he does now. In fact, I heard him once say that if he knew he would be around so long, he wou...

By missing the Black Crowes, you didn't miss much. At an outdoor festival in South Georgia a year ago, the Crowes headlined an outdoor show and they were pretty bad. They sang off-key and their sound wasn't mixed properly.
The band Conch Republic opened for them and did a much better show! 8)

I think it was in Columbia, S.C., last year that Jimmy forgot to introduce Peter Mayer at the end of the show. Considering that he does all this without teleprompters and "cue cards," he does pretty well over all. I once knew a TV anchor who said he made sure he had everyone's name in fron...

personally I've always thought that RadioMargaritaville (keyword being "Margaritaville") should stick to "islandesque" music, be it calypso, reggae, caribbilly, and the like. There's more than enough "islandesque" music out there to fill a station's airwaves around the...

Russ Kunkel is well-known in music circles as one of the best and most demanded session drummers. His recording relationship with James Taylor goes back to 1969 and throughout much of the 1970s. Kunkel also recorded/performed with a who's who in the music business, including Bob Dylan, CSN&Y, Ca...

Most of the time, the Sirius radio in my car is tuned to the Vacation channel. I love it too, except I could do without some of those native Hawaiian songs. I hope that Sirius doesn't drop the Vacation channel when they begin broadcasting Radio Margaritaville. As we all know, RM isn't entirely tropi...

A footnote to this story... Trisha Yearwood's sister lives in my town and there have been numerous Trisha sightings in recent years. Although I've never seen her, some of my co-workers have -- one time at Applebee's restaurant. There also have been rumors of at least one Garth sighting here but that...
