It's my understanding that Buffett & Taylor first hooked up in the mid '70s. By the time of the Volcano recordings, they were regular drinking buddies. In fact, I recall reading an interview with Carly Simon in 1979 or 1980 where she talks about being fed up with Baby James "spending all hi...

Key West at Thanxgiving

We're heading down to Key West for the week of Thanksgiving (and my birthday) and wonder if anyone has ever had Thanksgiving Day dinner at a restaurant down there and if so, what's a good place? I know Pepe's serves Thanksgiving dinner every Thursday throughout the year and Alice's has a price fixe ...

Everyone knows it all began with the Elvis Imitators riding their USS Zydecoldsmobile along the Coast of Carolina because it was a Rag Top Day. They picked up Frank and Lola and went Conky Tonkin' on a Livingston Saturday Night. They met up with a Cowboy in the Jungle who ate the last Mango in Paris...

Sorry, I gotta put my two cents in. John Denver was not a nice man....my dad was a limo driver in Louisville, and he was driving Mr. Denver back and forth to his hotel, and the venue. Dad asked him nicely for an autograph, and he snapped at him that he "doesn't do that". Not, "I'm so...

A few years ago during one of my trips to M'ville Cafe in KW, an employee there said they never know any sooner than a few minutes before he shows up. I've heard about him showing up there in the a.m. shortly after it opens and late at night. When he appears at night, the employees are told to watch...

I don't think it matters how many songs on a particular CD he has actually written. It is what he does with the songs that is important. Bubba has done an admirable job of choosing some great material for LTC. Virtually every one of them fits him. The more I listen to it, I'm especially hooked on &q...

I haven't heard too much favoring "Conchy Tonkin' " That song grows on ya; I ended up playing it back-to-back three times.
As for "Back to the Island," it's a good song and good choice but I found Jimmy's voice doesn't hold up as well in that key he's singing it in... :-?
