A few months back I finally got around to reading "Tourist Season" and loved it. Needless to say, "The Ballad of Skip Wiley" gets a lot more rotation in the cd deck now. After about 200 pages of "Following the Equator" it kinda got slow so I put it down, not to say I wo...

Hark! Who is that, prowling amidst the cliffs! It is Son Of A Beach, hands clutching a reflective halberd! He howls ominously:

"For the love of beatings, I hereby snap and go berzerk!!!"

I live in smack dab in Skynyrd territory (Middleburg/Jacksonville, Fl. area).
Johnny Van Zant came through my job just the other day.
Very friendly guy.

I've always felt that "take it all in, it's as big as it seems" from Jimmy Dreams was profane.

From the new songs I've heard from LTC and the new tracks he recorded/rerecorded on MMIM it seems Jimmy is getting back to the islands and that's a step in the right direction for me. Beach House was a wrong step in my book but that's only because I like the island stuff and steel drums, congas, etc...

My favorite movie is constantly changing but one that's always at the top of the list is SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT!!!!!!!!!!(Buford T. Justice and Junior are classic) Key Largo and Casablanca are up there too as well as Pulp Fiction and just about every Star Wars flick. Blame It On Rio is up there too a...

If anyone's worried about it sounding too country, So far, Scarlet Begonias and Back to the Islands do not sound very country to me. Hell, even License to Chill does'nt sound all that country either other than Kenny Chesney being on it. Not that I have a problem with country because after all, some ...

"Don't Bug me" absolutely blows. "Math sux" would have been better as an intrumental or maybe another song topic because musically it's pretty good. I was playing it at work and had to turn it down because I was ashamed of it. I think Atered Boy had potential but maybe it's Jimmy...

Hank Williams Jr's latest cd "I'm one of you" is great and gets back to his hellraising/party type songs.
Like Jimmy most of his best stuff is the lesser know stuff.

No prob, I just feel that the artists mentioned are not wanna bes, certainly not "most" of them.

I have to agree though I prefer Jimmy and JJW's gulf and western, and throw in a little Guy Clark too.

I second that commotion especially since most of the artists being named are wannabe hat acts that wouldn't know what real country music was if it jumped up and bite 'em on the ass. :D

Banana trees are cheap and grow very fast.
I started out with about five and now have over twenty surrounding my hammock.
Had so many I gave some to my neighbors.
