Re: Army vet billed $3,000 for war wounds...

While we all should be outraged at the poor quality of care our vets are receiving from the government, I can't say that it bothers me that the VA doesn't want to pay when someone goes outside their system. It's no different than private insurance. If you want to have a procedure the insurance comp...

Navy Chemist May Have Rediscovered 'Cold Fusion'

Forget the old jokes.
It seems that they have actually found something happening with "Cold Fusion".

Re: Army vet billed $3,000 for war wounds...

It is possible to sue the military, as a military member. You have to get approval to do so first. It can be and has been done. For those that want a Goverment based or so called "free" healthcare system. How do you think you will get treated in such a system? You can't make this stuff up!...

Re: Gun ownership issue

I've tried to word this as to not to offend anyone; I'm just looking for information. Nothing in your post for anybody to be offended by. I hope that my response is useful and encourage others to contribute. I'm sure there people out there (and on this list), that own one because they collect firea...

Re: Should Politicians return contributions fromn AIG?

I voted no but I don't doubt that some of these clowns will return the money. It will give them another opportunity to express their "outrage" without really doing anything. I respect and understand your decision and I thought about that... However, I must say they have no reason for feig...

Re: Should Politicians return contributions fromn AIG?

The Wall Street Journal perhaps said it best: ".... not suggesting any quid pro quo, by the way. But the confluence of political donations, the near-collapse of the corporation and the amount of lobbying money that flows in and out of Congress as it makes decisions is something that has long b...

Re: FOX News mocks Canadian military . . .

I misspoke, as was pointed out, a disclaimer is all that is evidently needed. But the fact still remains: "hard news" vs "spoof of news". comparing this piece to The Daily Show is a bit of a stretch. I didn't compare it to the Daily Show, but I would think that anybody with any ...

Should Politicians return contributions fromn AIG?

With all of the politicians being alledgedly so outraged at the bonuses AIG is paying out from our tax dollars. Being that The politicians approved such paymebts: Should the politicians return ALL of the campaign and lobbyist funding and moneys, they recieved from AIG? It only seems fair that all of...

Re: FOX News mocks Canadian military . . .

one might think that unless they issued an apology, given that it was done under their broadcasting license, that it is their position. Not sure I understand that logic. I seriously doubt that you'd agree that Keith Olbermann's calling President Bush a facist means that President Bush is a facist i...

Re: FOX News mocks Canadian military . . .

Yeah, I have to agree, it's BS, but it reminds me of the Jon Stewart show. Both try to twist the news of the day into comedy and much of the time twist it in a way to influence public perception, and both fail miserably. I don't watch Fox news or Jon Stewart because of it. As someone born in Canada...

Re: Gun ownership issue

Washington, DC has (or at least had when I lived there) the strictest gun control law. No citizen is allowed to carry a gun within the city limits, unless they are in the armed forces serving or in any of the police forces and yet the city had one of the highest murder rates (and gun related crimes...

Re: Gun ownership issue

With a clearly anti gun majority of elected officials in this country, don't say such could not happen here. There are more gun laws on the books than can possibly be enforced. Then we have the so called "assault" weapon and magazine ban they are wanting to reinstate. Try buying ammunitio...

Re: Gun ownership issue

Somewhat dated, but it is still interesting. Note how some states do
specify and allow for the the use of firearms for self defense, etc., and others do not.

Since the article is dated there are no doubt some changes that have been made.

Yeah, gun control works wonders here in the states.  http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090322/ap_on_re_us/police_shot_ca For me, gun control is hitting what you're aiming at. Some (most) of the credit card companies are starting something new. I am not sure what it is all about, but you only have 14 days to get the answer back to them. If you don't respond, they take your non reply as acceptance of it. I only caught a bit of it on the news the other day and did not reall...

All things considered and the economic status of things. Even before the economy became where it is now. It is well overdue and past time for TB and others, to be faced with and admit to their legalized crimminal acts. They are nothing but legalized scalpers, that some seem to like and have continue...

Re: Obama on Leno

I am reading Obama's book, The Audacity of Hope, and he looks at our country as "We're all in this together", so let's all work together to fix our country, so appearing on Jay Leno is a way to connect with everyone instead of at a Press Conference. I really do like that book and I would ...

Re: Not in my backyard

I'm sure that if you asked the general population back in the early 1900's about electric utility poles, you would have gotten similar opinions as you are getting today about wind turbines and solar power panels. Ask people today about those same utility poles and most people don't even notice them...

Re: Not in my backyard

Kennedy needs to finally go the way of all extinct animals. Wind turbines are not ugly. Neither are their water relatives. And from what I can gather the Atlantic is actually more of their front yard. You have these old people, see, who can't think in new ways, or better ways, or alternative ways a...
