Re: POPCORN

I keep microwave corn on hand for convenience and spur-of-the-moment munchies, but if I know I'm going to settle in with a movie and a tall cold one, I'll cook up a batch with the electric popper. A little oil, quarter-cup of Orville's, set it over the heating coil, and wait for it. Requires you to ...

Guess the Movie from the Picture

This is a rebus-style quiz. Look at the picture, then try to guess the movie. (this is the first one, so you can see what I mean) http://www.virginmedia.com/images/dingbats-clockworkorange2-431.jpg Answer: "A Clockwork Orange". Simple, right? So click on this link to go to the quiz. http:/...

Re: Aliens

As Carl Sagan and other astronomers/scientists/sci-fi writers have said, in one form or another — When you consider how many billions and billions of stars there are in the Galaxy; then consider how many galaxies there are in the universe (and these are just the ones we *know* about) , it is the hei...

Re: Have you seen the Goddess Bunny?

Watched it twice (I know, a glutton for punishment) and still I'm not sure what I was seeing. The wrap on the leg made me think it was someone who had undergone knee replacement and this was some form of therapy. Then I noticed the awkward way the person was holding her(?) body and arms and thought ...

Re: Movie Titles That Say The Name, In A Scene In The Movie

Ummm ..... this seems silly to me. Almost every movie, and certainly one word titled movies, say the name somewhere in a scene. Try naming movies where they DON'T say the title somewhere in the movie (much harder). Amazon Women on the Moon. The Kentucky Fried Movie. Revenge of the Nerds. Don't know...

The Love Bug BINGO!! (and to be specific, the *original* Love Bug [1968].) The first quote was taken from the scene during the 'El Dorado' race after Herbie has arrived at the half-way point in the dark of the night. The elderly Chinese gentleman Mr. Wu (who has acquired ownership of Herbie in lieu...

Wow. Cool picture. It's got the old, what was that, Northeast Airlines? almost logo on it. Well, ringling, think of them as being Gary Bettman. Ha ha. Yeahhh, it wasn't exactly what the mod pointed out, it was more of a observation about someone that is consistently nonsensical with a cultural reference thrown in to tie it together. The comment about the thread's title being inaccurate g...

They also took a product that had a mystique about it, in part because it was only available in certain markets, and then saturated new markets so that they were everywhere. Most of the ones in the Chicago area that I know of have closed, though last I checked, the one near O'Hare was still open. I...

Re: If you have a cell phone given to you by your office....

This tax was originally passed in 1989. According to the Reuters article http://www.reuters.com/article/technologyNews/idUSTRE55B4RP20090612 it seems that employers will assign an arbitrary percentage and that will be the taxed value. Seems to me that the employer should state that company cell pho...

Re: Jimmy Buffett reference in today's "Blondie" comic strip

Every comic strip eventually is recycled reruns, even when the strip is *new*. Lucy pulled the football out from Charlie Brown 835 times. Dagwood collided with the mailman rushing out the door 648 times. Garfield has smashed a spider 43 times with a newspaper... this year alone. Cathy looks in a mi...
