Re: Dick Armey - Republican Parrothead
There are more than a few of us that may not agree with Jimmy's political views, but his music is outstanding. Agree, as long as the music isn't political in nature, I love it. "A Lot to Drink About" encroaches on it, but I still think it is fun song despite the conservative bashing that ...

Re: Margaritaville Rums at New Olreans Margaritaville
Yes, those are the bottles. You have pictured there. Interesting though, because they said their Margaritaville was the first to release them since their market is the smallest, so I don't know how you would have tried them previously? It was a pretty simple concept. There was a young woman about m...

Re: Margaritaville Rums at New Olreans Margaritaville
This is probably the tenth time I have posted this, but I tried them at the Las Vegas M'Ville back in June. I tried a brown and a white. They were both drinkable and not too bad, but there are much better options available in each flavor.

Re: WDWGDAS — no longer listed as being performed?
I like the song. I like to play the song. It is, however, very overplayed though and next to M'Ville, probably his second most popular song that people know him by. Therefore, I understand why some of the Jimmy "purists"/long-time fans don't care for the song and would rather hear somethin...

Re: Top 20 Concert Tours?
You have to remember BN isn't a microcosm of society at large. Buffett isn't nearly as popular as a lot of people here seem to think he is. That's probably the main reason he isn't in the top 20. I couldn't agree more. Most everyone on that list are bigger "household names" than Jimmy Buf...

Re: Where's The Rum?
I tried a sample of the rum at Margaritaville in Las Vegas in mid June this year. It was pretty average; nothing to write home about, but certainly not horrible. It was pretty drinkable. They had a white and a spiced variety. I tried them both. Personally, their are other options available that I pr...

Does he think he is Buffett Doggy Dogg now? Awful song!! [smilie=thumbdown.gif] Sounds like it was written by a high schooler, not someone with 40 years of music experience. Thanks for posting the link and the lyrics though. Regardless of whether I like it or not, it is always good to hear a new song.

Re: Anyone got Lage Nom Ai tab/chord progressions???
Yep, I agree. There are a lot variations of simple chords Jimmy uses in his songs, mostly of the A and D open chords. If you aren't comfortable learning them, you can always stick to the basics and get a nice song, but by simply adding or subtracting a single string to or from a simple open chord, y...

Re: Anyone got Lage Nom Ai tab/chord progressions???
I agree...maybe this thread can also serve as purpose to petition for a "Musician's Corner" section in the forum for those that are interested in musical instruments and tablature/chords. They do have one on that "other" Buffett forum. Here ya go, although no sure how accurate it...

Re: Jimmy Buffett / Steve Goodman together
I want to thank you for bringing a smile to may face with the "Big Ole Goofy World" links. I like it when Jimmy steps out and adds the acoustic, personal touches. As for those who never saw or heard Steve Goodman, a hidden treasure would be to check out some of his old album covers. There...

Re: Please Jimmy, never play Ravinia
I would love to see Jimmy and Mac do an acoustic show there, but doubt it will happen. I don't think that the JB type of dancing would be an issue at Ravinia. I have been to a few G Love shows in my life and the crowd is a very different crowd from those that show up for a JB concert. It is mainly y...

So where and how do you people actually meet up during the Saturday tailgating? I will be arriving by bus with about 15 of my fun friends, but was interested in swining by if you people are going to be partying together.

Re: Rolling Stone
I can't stomach RS because of the ultra liberal pablum it insists on trying to cram down my gullet. I'm not saying they shouldn't write/print/publish whatever they want, but I don't have to buy or read it. Agree...I think it may be written by the same people who write the NY Times. As you said, the...

Re: Is Jimmy "mailing it in"?
I know Jimmy and Bruce are a bit different, but this is pretty impressive: “He’ll grab a sign out of the audience, give the teleprompter guy 20 seconds to find the lyrics and talk through an arrangement of a song we’ve never played, not once, on the spot. And then Bruce goes and counts it off in fr...

Gotta say I think Rocky Raccoon is a nice addition. Not a big Beatles fan, but I do like that song and Jimmy's rendition has been pretty good. Plus Peter and Mac get into it pretty good.

Re: Do you find you like your hometown venue best?
On it's best day, Tinley Park, could not beat Alpine Valley. It's just such a great place to see a show. Tinley Park has trouble beating anything. They are Nazi's about tailgating and the sound is mediocre, at best. Toyota Park is a better Chicago venue, but I struggle with not having a lawn at a B...
