Re: Do you find you like your hometown venue best?
I am a born and raised Detroit boy and now a native of Chicago for the past six, going on seven years. I have been to many venues to see Buffett including Cinci, Detroit, East Troy, Indianapolis, St. Louis, and many others, and I have to say that neither Detroit or Chicago are my favorites. Alpine V...

Re: Is Jimmy "mailing it in"?
Yep, when he said when he drinks too much he can bounce back and forth between the two songs.changingchannels wrote:The thing about Frank and Lola is that its the exact same music as Pencil Thin Mustache! as stated by Jimmy himself!
I think that quote came from an East Hampton show.

Re: Is Jimmy "mailing it in"?
Just went to the Detroit Show...and Jimmy definitely didn't "mail it in" The show was fun, high energy, had a couple of different songs along with Come Monday, One particular Harbor, Volcano, Changes, Margaritaville and I enjoyed them all. You forgot Frank and Lola...talk about a relic an...

Re: What's Jimmy's policy on cameras?
Buttholes at Alpine Valley took my disposable camera at the gate last year. Said no cameras. Meanwhile, I saw plenty of chicks taking cameras out of their purses during the show. There was probably some confusion of policy between all of the scholarly gate people. Just called Alpine Valley and list...

Re: The official 2008 Play "Turning Around" in Detroit
We have a recording of Steve Goodman playing in a bar and he introduces Elvis Imitators by telling the story of how his friend Jimmy Buffett even recorded it, but was too embarrassed to use his own name, so he recorded it as Freddy and the Fishsticks. Yep, you are correct. I have the same recording...

maybe he'll pay "Werewolves of London" again and follow it with "Elvis Immitators".......and then bring down the house with the "Hokey Pokey" song YES!! But I do like Werewolves. Not sure if you know this or if you are a Steve Goodman fan, but as bad as "Elvis Imm...

Re: An open letter to boys and girls going to Chicago & Alpine
Anger issues? Resentment towards people in their youth? With all due respect, you sure seem like a nice guy. I doubt any of the people you mention in your post are going to read your post, much less be forum members. None the less, I will be at both shows and will be sure to tell my 20 and 30 someth...

Nope your going to get "Take it Back". That song might be as bad as "Math Sucks".

Re: Is Jimmy "mailing it in"?
I'd simply love it if he'd keep the same generic set lists we come to know/love/hate but would sing them many of them more "70s style" ........... no SALT-SALT-SALT ....... and *sing* the song ... don't *SHOUT* out specific words in the lyrics ( "ran into a CHUM with a bottle of RUM ...

Re: Is Jimmy "mailing it in"?
Not every band does this... I've been to 3 Dave Matthews Band concerts this year and had 3 different set lists (different songs, different order, etc.) for each show. Just sayin'... I am a big DM fan as well and I agree with you...it is nice to see so much change from show to show from an artist. I...

Re: Is Jimmy "mailing it in"?
To answer the question, no, I don't think Jimmy is mailing it in. And I agree with an earlier post: to me, "mailing it in" refers to the performance, not the set list. Now, to address the ongoing Yellow Album controversy, people should take a look at the *54* page Irvine set list thread f...

Re: Is Jimmy "mailing it in"?
Some people claim that there's a Jimmy to blame, but I know, it's our own damn fault. To quote John Winger: "We’re mutants, there’s something wrong with us, there’s something very, very wrong with us. Something seriously wrong with us." In other words, each show should be for the people w...

Sad to hear about Roger's family.
Greg sure is doing a fine job filling in for him though.

Re: Who else here hates "Yellow Submarine"?
There are two kinds of musicians. Those who are influenced by the Beatles, and those who are lying. No denying that. I am not a huge Beatles fan, but without them, some of the music we love today, both classic stuff and new stuff, would be different. They are right up there with with Elvis, Hank Wi...

This has been discussed before multiple times. Not sure we need another thread on it, but for what it's worth, I don't like it at all.

Re: Why aren't tickets selling for this show?
Really, the economy in Detroit is el sucko, but we're still paying the price to see the man. I think it's kind of funny that Detroit is much worse off, economically, than Chicago, but tickets sold out in about 2 minutes here. We've gone to Chicago to see Jimmy for more than ten years, but probably ...
