Re: 2012 Summer Olympics
Thanks pair8 On cable they have a number of channels which are giving good and wide coverage but on FTA and in the papers it sort of goes: A swimmer did dis A swimmer did dat A swimmer did dis A swimmer did dat A swimmer did dis A swimmer did dat A swimmer did dis A swimmer did dat A swimmer did dis...

Re: 2012 Summer Olympics
Does the media in the US report widely on all sports or does it just focus on one or two?
Here in Oz the media has an obsession with the upper middle class white bread swimmers and the rest can go please themselves...
Which is why I am here while the events are on.

Re: I gotta go where it's warm...
Just doing some conversions in my head...
97 = 36°C Just getting to where I start saying "Summers Here!"
Not sure what a heat index is but if it means "feels like" and 108 = 41 or 42°C it is a good day to find a shady spot alright.

I gotta go where it's warm...
For those of us in the antipodes it is the depths of winter. Now it isn't like we get snowed in, but geez I am heartily sick of heading to work in the dark and coming home in the dark and being rugged up in between. So I was daydreaming at work and suddenly I'd knocked this up. KW Sunset + Text 700p...

Re: Who has found their 'One Particular Harbour'?
Not yet. I'm still looking. But there are a couple of ports of call that I can head for when I take a "mental health day" and need to recharge the batteries; usually somewhere off the beaten path where I can be alone for a while and pretend that the outside world just doesn't exist for t...

With all the turmoil, violence and tabloid journalism rife in the western world, I have the feeling that ParrotHeads have the jump on the rest of the rat race. Parrot Heads at the very least understand what we are looking for. Society doesn't seem to have a word for it, perhaps "Nirvana" o...

Re: Sad Day for the Music World
I was most saddened to hear the news about Jon Lord. The world is losing many of its great musicians. Sadly they are not being replaced, these great musicians learnt their craft by working hard and working with other talented musicians. It was not for the money, nor the fame, it was for the music. T...

I suggest the biggest difference between comic nerds and Parrotheads is that Parrotheads get the irony behind Why don't we get drunk, while the comic brigade see it as an instruction manual...

We don't have a word for them. Mostly 'cause we don't have 'em. Besides we have enough to deal with, well I mean just in my back garden we've got Red Back spiders, Funnel Web Spiders (real nasty), Mouse Spiders, a few species of snake (a couple of which are venomous), drop bears, hip-holes and last ...

I was telling the family about this last night. We realized that we have never actually purchased anything from there but look forward to walking though every time we visit KW. Too bad we won't be able to take one more stroll through. DQ To (mis)quote the guy from mythbusters: Well theres the probl...

Re: Bitter Fans?
Bitter? Nah. Twisted? Definitely. I met one bitter fella though. He was playing at the Schooner Wharf in Key West, whined about JB doesn't live there and is just trading on the name, he went on to say that he had been playing in KW for 30 years... Seemed kinda bitter that JB is making sqillions and...
