Just out of curiosity...I bought 8 tickets on a single order. Could I have chosen 4 "make-up" tickets to 2 different shows, or did they all have to be to the same one?

Which show did you get/are going to get tickets for? I got 9 lawn seats to JB @Alpine Valley. Not even sure if I'll go or not, but it was the only show I was interested in.

The sod only made a bad situation worse.

The kicker for me is the sound (which I suppose can be corrected) and the view to the stage. With the lawn slope, you can't SEE the stage. That's insanity.

Just awful all the way around.

So it looks like the shuttle bus is only for the 31st street lot, and those at the South Lot or above will walk to the venue. Am I interpreting it correctly?

Speaking as someone who lives in the South-West burbs of Chicago...please everyone do not be scared of our great city. It's no more violent (or expensive) than any other major city in America and Chicago PD are some of the country's finest. Don't be a tool and you will probably not have any issues ...
