City of New Orleans

The song City of New Orleans was written by Steve Goodman and covered by many artists. The following is a quote from his official bio at www.redpajamasrecord.com "Steve's appeal was largely due to his songs, most notably "City of New Orleans." He explained the origin of the song to Ch...

I had Sirrus for a week long road trip just before Easter. I didn't think it was all that terrific. I listened to the tropical station, the reggie station, the folk station, the outlaw station, the blues station and found that by about half way through the trip I was listening to my CDs instead of t...

I suspect that Jimmy won't be doing the Salty City in the Land behind the Zion Curtain anytime soon given that he hates the Delta Center. And I don't think Boise is really on his list, just having a bit of fun.

I forget which show it was that Jimmy talks about having wanted to play John Hiatt songs and he mentions that the that John Hiatt used to be his guitarist in one of his earliest bands. I'm not sure what band since I don't recall it being mentioned by name. I know that the show as broadcast on RM and...

Don't forget that Jimmy Buffett and John Hiatt used to be in a band together and thus have some long standing ties.

Delbert McClinton is great live and not too bad on his CDs. The man has a tremendous range of works and isn't to be missed. The Drive by Truckers are pretty exciting too. I also enjoy the Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash. I didn't realize that Sonny had toured with John Hiatt and I stand corrected. I've ...

New Orleans

The Days Inn is not in a great neighborhood so if you are walking try to stay with a group and in illuminated areas. As for the streetcar, I've never been bothered on it however I have been panhandled at various stops. That's been the worse experience on the streetcar. If you are walking around the ...

When I saw John Hiatt last year Sonny was not performing with him. I don't recall who was doing the slide guitar work. I know that Sonny is out on tour right now, as is John Hiatt so I don't think that it is anything more then studio work for Sonny.
