I think a Parrothead can damn well be anything they want to be... Lee, can I even be a liberal? I'll ask for you at the next meeting.... we usually gather in the old growth forest and say Wiccan chants while the smell of patchouli wafts in the air. Then we hand out hoards of hard working Repu...

Yes, you CAN be a parrothead and a conservative. And even work in the field of education (successfully) after enduring the liberal idealogues of undergrad and grad school trying to "enlighten" you from your poor, ignorant, common-sense ways. (Sorry, soapbox flew across my field of vision f...

Someone should pul the plug and put MTV out of its misery. There's no reason to watch it anymore Agreed. I miss the days of cool V-Js and actually... (this sounds crazy, I know)... seeing music videos. I knew the end was near when they started the whole "Yo MTV Raps" thing. Sorry, showing...

Cool show. Sherlock Holmes with neurosis. :o

If I'm flipping through channels and it's on, I'm usually there for the rest of the episode.

Show's a little formulaic, and I miss Sharona, but I hope this one goes on for a while.

And no, you can NOT clean nature with nature.

weak

I'm a school administrator, and got to say, what the principal did here is WEAK. In her defense, school admin. gets pummeled with all sorts of warnings about lawsuits, follow the book, etc. etc. etc. Can beat you down if you let it. Still, admin. is also given (legally) quite a bit of leeway to make...

Pirate

A Pirate Looks at 50.

Hands down, no question. Great intro/background on Jimmy and will make some of his other stuff more interesting because you'll catch all the inside jokes, cryptic references, etc. etc. etc.

Enjoy the vacation. 8)

Re: The House of Mouse

I REALLY hate to admit this.... the wife has decreed it's time for the family to make the pilgrimage to Disneyworld. :-? Any suggestions for where to stay, how to endure, etc. etc. etc.? I'd rather not spend the entire college fund on this one, so any helpful ideas would be appreciated. Fortunately...

Not bad

Just bought the CD a couple of days ago and have heard it a few times now. Not bad, really (and I actually kind of like KC.) Couple thoughts.. I've thought for some time KC wants to pick up some of the Parrothead crowd if/when Jimmy ever slows down and this album convinces me of that even more. He's...

realtor

If you're really wanting to check options for a "stick house" I'd suggest starting with this link. www.realtor.com It usually has stuff from lots of realty agencies and some decent search features. You never know when something that fits you great may pop up. I've got nothing really ...

a thought

Just thinking... Please know I have nothing against manufactured homes, except the low resale value. Have you thought any about buying a stick-home that is a "fixer-upper?" I know it may sound daunting, but if you're willing to listen and learn, you can do a lot of work yourself and really...

welcome

Welcome to the great midwest. :D K.C. is a pretty good town, all things considered. Royals baseball isn't very good, but the tix are cheap and readily available. Chiefs football was bad this year, but it's usually decent. AND... from what I hear, a Cheeseburger in Paradise just opened up. Last thoug...

worst are good

We were at the 10/23/04 show, and had pretty much the worst seats in the house... but they were still great. Seriously, not a bad seat in the house. Sound is good, view isn't bad, either. And... it's kind of cool when in the middle of a song Jimmy will make some kind of reference to the cheap-seat s...

the book

I read the book and loved it. Then, I picked up the CD. The CD made sense because I knew the story of the book, but it wasn't the best JB music I've ever heard. :-? The whole thing seemed a bit forced, like he was making tunes and lyrics fit when they weren't totally compatible. Probably a result of...

Pirate Looks at 50

If you're still looking for JB quotes from books...

Try the 400 word essay near the beginning of "A Pirate Looks at Fifty."

Informative, direct, descriptive, and no run-on sentences. I'm envisioning the prof reading that one right now.... :pirate:

thanks and keep it coming

Hey all,

The response to my orginal post is really, really appreciated. Have to say it's pretty cool being able to throw something out there and have a bunch of nice people say helpful things.

Anyway, thanks again, and if somebody's got some more to say, just keep it coming!
