I like some of their first album well enough but the use of their song "One Week" in that car commercial (that used to air no less than every 5 minutes) pretty much ruined them for me. Right up there with Celine Dion for current worst Canadian export.

Sonny Landreth is great, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. There's nothing quite like his expertise on "slydeco" guitar.

I rarely listen to the radio anymore besides NPR in the morning and evenings, and maybe a little talk radio here and there but when I did, WRDU in Raleigh (and WQDR before them, before they went country) used to play a lot of Buffett.

It's a throwaway song at best but I must admit it provided a nice little flashback to the 80s when I heard it on the Vegas album. What could be next, "Hello, Texas" maybe? aww, I like that song. I'm not sure if you're referring to "Hello, Texas" or "Spicoli's Theme" bu...

First of all, *I* didn't compile the lists, I found them on other web sites. This is also further evidence that apparently very few bothered to click on the links I posted at the beginning of the thread. The second link takes you to a list of albums released in 1974 which includes Living and Dying ...

I believe Buffett mentions having "phasers on stun" in one of his songs. Interesting comparison between Hagar and Buffett except I think Sammy went one step further when he said on Letterman one time that he was from another planet. Seriously.

Like he says on the intro to "Everlasting Moon" from the box set, it's a baby boomer thing. Although I'm not quite the same age as Buffett and don't really consider myself a boomer, I can see where he's coming from. As a child growing up in the late 60s and early 70s space exploration was ...

Buffett played Central Park on August 22 and 27, 1977.

If you're referring to Simon and Garfunkel's live album, The Concert in Central Park, it was recorded on September 19, 1981.

Correct me if I'm wrong... According to the Alan Parsons Project FAQ (which is admittedly outdated), this should answer your question: http://www.roadkill.com/APP/faq/#4...

I live along the NC coast and if you're looking for characteristics of the big city you're simply not going to find them here. Personally, I'm glad there are no tall buildings or other things here that would be associated with the big city and I sincerely hope it stays that way.

The only Buffett show I ever saw in Charlotte was at Carowinds during the Somewhere Over China Tour circa 1981 and due to a tumultous downpour the concert was delayed for quite a while but as soon as the rain let up Buffett came out and put on a hell of a show. As far as the up and down thing, when ...
