I would have to say that NPR has their collective heads up their transistors!! That is a great list of tunes!!! Or maybe im just too old!!!! Well said. What list of tunes are you referring to? The ones I posted or the ones NPR included in their commentary? I must be in the minority at this we...

I left this one out, but it's really not a Buffett encounter so it may not officially count but my Dad ate at one of Buffett's restaurants (Dixie Diner?) in the Keys back in the 70s but one of his friends had to get up and leave because of the overwhelming stench of marijuana.

I have a friend that met him quite a few years ago (the 70s) and although I'm not sure of the exact nature of their encounter, he said Buffett came off as a real a**hole. Although not a personal encounter, another friend, attending one his concerts in the 80s said Buffett kept admonishing the crowd ...

I'm guessing since no one answered my question about Legend that must be the only reggae album most of you own. I didn't even see it...Very true indeed. It's almost as bad as people who claim to be big Buffett fans and only own SYKBH. Oh, I'm not really trying to single anybody out, I'm honestly ju...

[quote="iuparrothead"]I don't even own Legend. Good point though Lance. I'd love to read that Onion article! btw... my cat's name is Rasta [quote] Cool, I didn't buy it myself until I started my CD collection. I still have lots of Marley on vinyl that I haven't picked up on CD. BTW, who is...

1974: The Worst Year for Music?

I'm not sure how many of you heard this feature on NPR's Morning Edition today but they tried to make a case for 1974 being the worst year for music. Examples used included "Seasons in the Sun", "Billy, Don't Be A Hero", "The Piano Man", "The Joker" and others...

He was at the Austin City Limits Music Festival last year and I couldn't get far enough way from his annoying ass drum machine. Maybe his records or better but his live show (and String Cheese Accident's) didn't do anything for me.

Donna the Buffalo (Brief Buffett Menton)

Well, the brief Buffett mention isn't very favorable and I honestly don't see the Buffett-Donna connection aside from his rendition of Sonny Landreth's "U.S.S. Zydecoldsmobile" which does remind me a bit of Donna the Buffalo. From the Athens, GA based Flagpole.com: http://tinylink.com/?LzS...

Maybe they have, but not at the level of grossness that show goes for. I disagree. Think prostitution. I would rather do anything on Fear Factor than subject myself to what some of these folks have to do for a few bucks (and more importantly, who they have to do it with). I guess we'll just have to...

I'm absolutely positive it was Fear Factor and it's right in line with their line of thinking (or lack thereof) for that show. I'm also not close-minded at all, I'm merely speaking my mind. You're obviously a fan of the show so naturally you're going to defend it but never before have I seen people...

Perhaps, but it's billed as reality television. In any case, it's not my cup of tea. The most disgusting moment I saw on there wasn't someone eating some animal part, it was a competition to see who could cry on cue. If people want to go on television and publicly humiliate themselves for large amo...

People have been saying rock n' roll is dead for years. It's far from dead and will never die. I don't need to hear rock n' roll on the radio, on MTV, or read about it in a magazine to justify it's existence. That being said, radio stations do still play rock n' roll, they may be in the minority but...

66 points here but that's because you're SOL if you didn't watch any Saturday morning cartoons in the 80s.
