My wife is in her 1st year back in teaching after taking 12 years off to raise our kids. She has a different perspective on it than most 1st year teachers since she has done it in the past, the biggest thing she says that some teachers forget is that teaching is your JOB, not a social hour or somewh...

Locals don't even bother going out to eat until about mid-march. I'm a 3rd generation native Floridian, my great grandfather...

There is so much more to the Keys than just Key West, I used to be a part owner of a home on Big Pine and the changes are similar all over the Keys, locals are being priced out. Key West just seems to be on the leading edge of overcrowding and development, old timers blame lots of different folks no...

We had horrible luck with our Dodge Caravan, transmission problems that were luckily under warranty and several AC problems that cost big $$. The thing was so bad that parts were litterally falling off of it before it had 30,000 miles on it. :(

Very much enjoyed Prince of tides, one of my all time favorites! HATED the movie! a very southern book was twisted into something unrecognizable by Steisand. A quick read by Conway is "the water is wide" it is a lighter book about his time as a teacher in the S.C. lowcountry. I really was ...

Our family never forgets the Black-eyed-peas or Collard greens on New Years, growing up in SW Fl we do put a little chopped onion and Vin & Oil on top though (Cuban style).
Some areas of the south call BEP and rice "Hoppin John".

My oldest, now 14, was fine with Santa but my youngest has never liked him, didn't even want him to come in the house while he was sleeping.

Neither of them liked clowns either, we think it has something to do with the face being hidden.

Do you take tropical vacations?

I just returned from 11 days in the BVI's and am leaving on the 20th for a week on Green Turtle in the Abacos. Seeing as how most folks on here like the tropical laid back lifestyle where do you vacation?
