I would not suggest joining the OC, they are very anti-recreational use of the waters, as said earlier they are a big proponent in closing thosands of miles of ocean to small time family recreational fisherman. They call them "marine protected areas" without going to deep into the subject ...

There is another famous guy from their bunch that played, he was the principal in the movie Breakfast Club. I think it...

My daughters 7th grade class just spent a week in Washington and NY, she was chosen from her class to help lay the wreath at the tomb. :) She said it was very moving and very cool, the soldiers were very serious about what the kids were allowed to do. I think this will be a memory that she will keep...

Allen, I can share lots of stories about "cordial and polite" gator fans  My best example of gator fans is when when my best buddy was dating Miss UF, I sat with her family at the Miss Florida pagent and when Miss FSU was introduced the whole family booed her! I turned to the girl ne...

He played with Lee Corso and Burt (buddy) Reynolds as well as a bunch of other names that only old Nole fans would know. I am actually 3rd generation seminole as my grandmother went there when it was ...

Currently have 2 boats, 1- a semi custom 17ft Action Craft flats skiff made of kevlar and carbon. Flats skiffs are a very specialized boat made to float very shallow and pole in search of fish.
2. a brand new 23ft gause custom sportfishing boat.

I can't quite remember the Jimmy/Conroy connection? I think it has something to do with Janes sister being Conroys relative or something like that?
Does anyone know what the connection is?

Try "The Water is Wide" next by Conroy, it is fairly light reading and not very long either. It is about his time as a school teacher on the out islands in lowcountry s. carolina.

I guess after reading all the others I just expected more, I bought it in hardback as soon as it came out and I remeber thinking after reading it that you could tell he had been depressed during the time he wrote it . If I remeber correctly Conroys brother died or committed suicide while he was writ...

Prince of tides is my favorite book of all time. Jimmys intro is slightly different than from the book.

The movie sucked! Barbara Streisand made it into a NY Jewish Psychiatrist based story when it really was so much more.

I've liked all of Conroys books except Beach Music.

Rip, as an avid boater and fisherman in SW Florida, I too supported the original zones close to 10 years ago. These days it has become all to apparent that the animal is being used by SMC to limit growth in Fl and as a way to eliminate power boating from Floridas waters. It saddens me that Jimmy has...
