Hope the healing process goes quick for you catsway.
If you are not up to bicycling by the time you get to Key West, they have bicycle taxis there. Can't remember how much they charge. Also, do take the Conch Train around to save some wear and tear on your feet.
Get well soon!!!!

MIwreckdiver, Hope you don't think that people are avoiding you. There are a number of different threads for Key West info that are currently running. Make sure to check them out. A few main things: Alabama Jack's on the drive down from Miami. Do have the Conch Fritters. Maybe you'll see a manatee. ...

Re: Tour is a MUST for any Parrothead going to Key West
Tim traveled with Jimmy and the Band for a number of years. He was in charge of the performers that entertain before the show. The stilt walkers, basketball hoop catchers and such. According to Tim, Jimmy approached him when Tim was doing the same thing at sports events. Jimmy thought it would be go...

As others have said, Alabama Jack's. Do have the Conch Fritters. Maybe you'll see a manatee. Good Key Lime Pie. Most everything on the menu has been good. Make sure to make the turn left south of Florida City to head to Card Sound http://www.alabamajacks.com/ No Name Pub on Big Pine Key. Watch out f...

Re: Just booked a trip...KW in April!
We found the Big Avocados at most of the super markets in Key West, Big Pine and Marathon. Not all of the markets had them though. Not sure where the markets get theirs from. Or if these are from California. But chances are they come from Florida or somewhere else in the Caribbean. Prices seemed fai...

Re: Just booked a trip...KW in April!
sonofabeach, Not a bad drive from Cudjoe Key to Key West. We rented a house last year on Cudjoe Key. Things start to look the same at night. Had a couple of landmarks to look for before Cudjoe. There's a Baseball Field at a school one or two keys from Cudjoe. They usually had it lit up at night. Our...

We stayed at the Caribbean House a few years ago. Was a nice little place. No real frills. Down in the Bahama Village just a block from Blue Heaven. Not much parking, might be a draw back. Check them out: http://www.geocities.com/caribbeanhousekw/ If he really wants to save money and just have a pla...

The Trolley Tour around Savannah is very informative. Checkout the different city squares throughout the downtown area. http://www.trolleytours.com/savannah/ You may want to watch the movie, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil", before going. One of the main characters, the Lady Chabl...

Re: Tybee Island
Haven't made it to Tybee but have been to Savannah. Do plan to spend some time in town. Quite a bit of history and wonderful places to see. Go down to the riverfront cobblestone road. Tybee is also good. Had a friend that lived in Savannah and they always enjoyed going to Tybee Island. Do try to eat...

Re: Info on Universal in FL
You may want to check out the Valet Parking at Universal. It's not all that much more than the regular parking $12 and even pretty close to the cost of Preferred Parking. The Preferred Parking does get you closer than the regular parking but it really is not a bad walk at all from the regular site. ...

You might want to wear some of your old clothes rather than your nicest outfit. It looks like the RUSH or Student seats might be in the Poncho Zone. Not that that is a bad thing, just that you might get some of the colored liquids on you. They do provide a poncho to you. Have Fun. We saw them in New...

Re: Mount Rushmore
Looks like as usual they have the hotel rates rather high during the July 4th weekend. Hill City is not too far and there is a two lane back road from Keystone that is not bad, watch the curves. This is the road that runs along the 1880 train rail line. The road back to Rapid City goes through Keyst...

Re: Seaplanes of KW
I'll agree with the unobstructed view from the top of the La Concha.
It's also nice to take a sunset sail. Most boats have food and drinks included in the price.
If you are there enough nights to do all of the above, do it.

We go every year for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which is the beginning of August. The Fourth will be busy also but not like during Sturgis when they triple and quadrupal motel rates. I would suggest getting your motel rooms lined up ahead of time. Things fill up quick during tourist season. There...

Re: Seaplanes of KW
We did the Seaplane a few years ago. Glad we did it. I'd check back, hopefully they will reopen. Not sure if I'd take the ferry out or not. It seems they have been raising their prices to the point where the Seaplane was not all that much more. If you really had the time the ferry might be good. Tak...

Re: Symptoms of Keys Disease
My Mom and a couple of friends spent January and February at Cudjoe Key about 25 miles north of Key West. They experienced the local's Keys Disease. They needed some services done at the house that they rented. So the call goes in to schedule them to come out. A time is set. The day comes that they ...
