It's already old news but John Prine will be playing Carnegie Hall in early January. I'll be there with my Steve Goodman t-shirt for obvious reasons. I saw Prine two years ago at Town Hall, incredible.

Today marks the passing of two great artists whose influence on JB was great. Jim Croce -9/20/73 and Steve Goodman -9/20/84.

I expect Jimmy will dedicate a tune to my namesake tonite, but I wish he'd properly tip his hat to Jim Croce with a cover of some sort.

Outside of the Goodman connection I don't believe the two were close. No reported collaborations nor covers of either's tunes. I would describe Goodman & Prine as brothers in arms.

Actually, word from the cheap seats is that Goodman attended Muhlenberg in PA, living off campus at Croce's farm in Lyndell. Now mind you this is just fictional facts, hearsay & rumor.
