I've seen that 72% figure also.

That's pretty impressive in a country where they hadn't voted in 50 years. Most of their citizens have never experienced democracy before.

With a budget like that and being open-minded about food and accomodations, I'd be speaking mostly Spanish for about a month. Playa del Carmen is a great place! Be sure and take the ferry across to Cozumel while you're there. Xcaret is great place to spend a day near Playa del Carmen and the evening...
