Rum drinks can only be made with good rum... Mt. Gay, Appleton, Cruzan... Bacardi is turpentine. Flavoured rums are fine with fruit juice but not good in these drinks. For a knock out Cuba Libre (rum and coke), try making it with 151 proof St. Vincent rum. Best on its own... Doorly's (Blue Parrot) o...

If you happen to watch Emeril regularly you will find he has jazz going into and out of each ad usually. It's a cooking show, it's not supposed to have high production values. Practice lengthening your attention span... oh, and it's spelled 'callaloo'. And it is also the name of a soup as well as an...

Bubble Room is a must. Take a boat to Cabbage Key. A lot of the rest of what you mentioned (J DING DARLING) is actually on Sanibel. Sometimes it is better to look for shells at night with a flashlight. Try biking. Avoid the big resort that is on the northern end of Captiva... it is not at all like t...

Well, God, woman, get him started NOW. Someday is now. You don't wait. Mine had sailed some on Lake M as a teen, then devoted some years to football (he was a college All American, honor student, all that stuff), etc, grad school, and so on, and then we lived somewhere where skiing was more the thin...

Why are all you people buying Tommy Bahama? It's HOT, it's expensive, it doesn't really work in real day-to-day tropical climates... think all cotton all the time if you really want to be comfortable in the little latitudes... LL Bean's all cotton summer tropic wear works much better, lasts longer, ...

Nope don't fish, although we don't mind watching other people do it, or eating them! Jimmy has been practicing on the Alaska Amber for a few weeks now. Our usual is Mt. Gay rum, but a little beer never hurts, and we've just been down in the Land of Dos XX. Funny you should mention the snow... before...

1948 Aloha-- Our island was Barbados, from which we were sent to this 'island' of California. We will get to Hawaii next May or June. Always a Cindie. Had a sister named Debbie and a not very original Mom. (Only bro named after father, and 2 other sis Patty and Mary.) She 'spelled us the same way'. ...

Red Sox
De Red Sox won! Of course we had to take our Mass. college kid while she's out here (she has ten different Red Sox hats one for every outfit), and afterward she was sort of dancing and singing "Sweet Caroline" and asked her why Red Sox fans sing Sweet Caroline and she said she just did but...

I know where Evansville is cause our twenty-something 'keet went to college there... but where is Huntersville NC? [We are curious about the Carolinas because of thinking of sort of retiring there because of their proximity to the Intercoastal and places to keep boats. ] But we've only ever been to ...

We're cruising Alaska inside passage, glaciers, etc., in September. We have a free evening in Juneau. Any suggestions for dining out there? Also have a day + night in Seattle before and after, too... any restaurant ideas would be appreciated (Not The Fisherman's... we already have that in San Clemen...

Well they sure had to move it a day in October 2004, due to rain! And then it was verrrry cold, and we had to buy a serape to keep warm. Darn, we will still be in Dallas for WEF. Anyway, thursdays are for sailing, right. Even JB would rather be sailing if he could be. someone else spelling Cindie &q...

Yes there are free trolleys that go all over the Arts Route. And there are also regular trolley buses to the beaches, even the small pocket beaches. And there is also a very local only in Laguna regular transit system. And there are the OCTAbuses run by the OC. And the walking is easy if a bit hilly...

Our daughter lived in Scotland 3 years, travelled all over and never had any of those things happen to her... and we visited there a couple times and never did either! Maybe it was just cause it was tourist season?! Anyway, sounds like you will reme...

Our island only had two or three all-inclusives, patronized almost exclusively by Brits. They are not as common in the south Caribbean. Also no chain hotels, although they have since opened a Hilton there. Also many of the islands we travelled to are more primitive or simpler, like St. Vincent, Domi...

Just wanted to add that they are opening an actual beach restaurant August 1 in the Crystal cCve historic district. Also, we did go to the Festival of the Arts, which is held outside the Pageant grounds, Saturday afternoon from 2-4 and there is some pretty beautiful stuff this year. Walked around to...

Our child age 24 who has been to Hawaii extended 2 x and to Barbados when Mums and Dad lived there 5 x says she would pick the Caribbean any day, much nicer beaches, more to do and of course she liked the 18 year old legal thing, she was 20 when we moved south, etc. But she likes lying on the beach,...
