A couple years ago anyway, you used to be able to take a great day sail out of Soper's on Kuralu. (he has a website, I think his name was Robin) And he DOESN"T take any cruise ship people, so you got to be staying somewhere near there. Snorkeling, food, Green Cay, a good spinnaker run or two, W...

Oh go to St. John. Take the ferry over. St. Thomas is all just shopping.

San Juan to us is only the airport, which we does not care for, it is likely our least favorite airport anywhere.

You might like Zinc or the Shore House better than Las Brisas, but Las Brisas is good for a drink at sunset or a stop while on the bluff walk. (Check out the people all in white lawn bowling on the top of the cliff near Las Brisas also. ) Laguna Beach is very crowded in the summer. Pageant of the Ma...

Hmm... ya get busy for a month or so and come back and look what they're discussing! 'Fore we went overseas we used to live for a while in a state that had more Independents than either Republicans or Democrats and everybody regularly split their ballots, which seemed like the best way to go, 'cause...

Eesh! And I thought 'End of the World' had to do with the "Hitchhiker's " [Guide, and etc.], you know, the series of sort of cult books and the film that came out this past year or so... he's pretty literate in his own way, and Savannah probably reads them, 'cause ours who are that age do....

Nauset or Hammonasett in Connecticut. There is a great place for shore dinners on the Boston Post Road near Hammonasett. The towns on either side are harbor towns, but that town is a town with about 6 miles of beach. YOu can see across the Sound to eastern Long Island. Favorite harbor town though is...

Several suggestions from us peoples who lived in the islands for a couple years... 1) have a "job" or skill you can do via internet. Then you don't need a work permit. 2) Boats. Get a crew job, again same, esp. if you leave from USVI or some such... all you need to start is valid US passpo...

Don't know if this helps, (analogy?) but my UMass grad kid, who lives in New England, says she would rather see Counting Crows in Boston than at Mohegan Sun (which is 20 min from where her UConn cousins live), and she is seeing them in Boston. She says it will be a more exciting place. (??!) Might i...

Well North Dakota is losing population so fast that with any luck it will not be eligible to be a state much longer anyway! (Do you think we could 'en-state' Puerto Rico in its place?) Then, it will have to look to its "blue" neighbor Minnesota, won't it? [And Wyoming has less population t...

Also, walk in the Mariposa Grove as far as the tree with the walk going through it and make sure you take a picture of them standing on top of the General Grant tree too. u...

Where the heck is Leawood, Kansas; for that matter, where the heck is Kansas... isn't that where Dorothy got lost? Think we drove through it once, but maybe not? Is this a college town or a suburb? Kansas City is in Missouri, right?, at least most of it is... is this the non Missouri part or somewhe...

Sails are just like wings, the wind can make 'em sing, songs of life, songs of hope, songs to keep your dreams afloat. Or, on land: I still come down to talk to me, when the coast is clear. Pita, 'nless you a British citizen, living at Cane Garden Bay (agree on your description) is going to be hard, you might be better to try for St. John, USVI, and take that ferry to Soper's when you want to go over de hill to Cane Garden. One of our childs lived in Scotland for 3 years, but when de v...

Saltwhistle Bay, Mayreau, The Grenadines Maybe our own beach-that-was at Sandy Lane on the Islan' :( Here in CA, the best we can do is having one at Fisherman's on the pier at San Clemente, watching the surfers. Or watching the sunset over the San Joaquin Hills from our front yard. I HATE June Gloom!

Don't do the CA coast from now thru July, it's Marine Layer season, or as we call it June Gloom and you can go days without seeing any sun. What about the Rockies? And as the man said, Grand Canyon is a must... if it is too late this year for the South Rim (gets awful crowded early) do the North Rim...
