Hello,
I apoplogize for not writting here in a while. But like most other people on this site we have been going though an extrememly rough time.
My wife Paula and I got something in the mail today that made us cry tears of joy.
It started 3 years ago when I got out of the hospital. I wans't allowed to work. We went though all of that disaibility gargage. Lost most of our money on lawyer services. The usual.
My wife is the only one currently working. She makes 14,000 dollars a year. We have your typicall bills house, utilities, taxes. We get a little help from the state. We tried a cover buisness but everyone went tatical.
Thanks to my son who is 8 and Jimmy Buffett, I decided I want to go back to work. I want to be a deep diver/ commericial diver. A school found us and we started to work with them. It would cost arount 20,000 plus a vehicle to go. We got PELL and VSAC grant. We are trying for more grans and scholarahips but it isn't working. We need 14,000 still plus a vehicle. PLus I lost my friend to a diving accident in Oreans.
While all of this is going on We are getting ready for Christmas. I hate Christmas. I love it for the kids, but hate it for my wife and myself. We try to get the kids the one gift under 40.00 they want and we picked up trinkets along the way but for Paula and I there is hardly any money. When the kids are sleeping we walk around the house and pick up things they won't remember and that's what we give each other. I hate it because she deserves more, she has been though a lot and she can still smile.
I wrote to Mr. Buffett about the Christmas thing and how his music crossed 4 generation of my family ending with my young children.
Today we got a package in the mail from Margaritaville. It was a hand picked CD by Mr. Buffett and a signed picture of himself with a mesage to us on it. We both cried. The was the best gift we could have ever got.
Sorry it was kinda long but I had to tell the whole storie.

Ric...

What an awesome story!

Y'all...Ric and his wife Paula are two people I am lucky enough to call friends.....We "met" on another board..and when I went to upstate NY last year on vacation..I took the ferry over to Vermont and had the pleasure of meeting them in person and spending an evening together...

If anyone deserves anything wonderful...it is these two. They are incredible people and parents.....and just wonderful friends and human beings....

How they have come thru everything they have come thru is an inspiration to me...

Thank you for sharing that story with us Ric......

phrrd119,
Sorry about leaning a message on you phone. I wasn't trying to brag. I just was very excited.
Love ya,
Ric
Still might be in Jax if they choose there to train me. I could use some weather that suits my cloths. It is mighty cold up here in a pair of shorts.

I hope that all the greedy bastards in the world
Come back as lobsters.
You know that life at the bottom of the food chain
Suits them well.
I think that all of the evil people of the world
Come back as horseflies,
They want one last bite before they're sent to hell.

It probably doesn't matter. :D

I wish the best for you and your family. Anybody that prrthd119 is willing to call a friend must be a good person. Again, congrats on the CD, and let me be the 2nd (after JB) to wish you and your family a Mele Kalikimaka, Feliz Navidad, or just plain old Merry Christmas. Again, best wishes for you and your family.

Ric,

Your post really touched my heart and I am so happy to hear Jimmy got back to you.

As Jimmy says:
And if it never worked before
Try it just once more
That's what your heart if for

Hang in there man. You and yours are in my prayers hoping that the tide turns soon for you.
We've gotta roll with the punches
Learn to play all of our hunches
Makin' the best of whatever comes your way
Forget that blind ambition
And learn to trust your intuition
Plowin' straight ahead come what may.

The CD was Lisence to Chill. Thank you every one for your kind word. The past 6 months that quite franlky been hell on us. It has torn my family apart more than once. I'm Bi-polar and I had the first major episode in three years. So you words of kindness are wonderful and uplifting. Christmas isn't about the presents, well it is for the kids but for us it is about love. As long as we are together and well thats all we want. Except for me. I want to give her more, she has been through the ringer and back and still stayed with me, she is very special, I'm lucky she is my wife.
I hope to get some money for Diving shcool some how there is always a way just got to look hard enough and you never know what you might find.
For the Record PRTHD119 is a very close person to us. Basically she is our life line. She is so much apart of our lives without her we would be lost. I'm not going to say it but she knows how we feel about her.
