SOoo.. when is someone going to post it so the rest of us can hear it ??
I hope that all the greedy bastards in the world
Come back as lobsters.
You know that life at the bottom of the food chain
Suits them well.
I think that all of the evil people of the world
Come back as horseflies,
They want one last bite before they're sent to hell.

Follow this link. Go to the first of the two links (the servebeer one) on page one of the thread. There are several 2006 shows available. Go to the Irvine 4/20 show. It's in the second folder, song #11. Great song! Enjoy!

SWEET!! I hadn't looked back to see that there are some 2006 shows there. I was even able to download Here We Are to my work computer (don't tell the IT guys).

Listening to it now, can't wait to get home to download it there and get it to my iPod!!! :D :P :D :P :D

OK, after two-dozen times of listening, I've come up with my version of the lyrics. thanks to those that have done this already, you got some of the things I couldn't figure out.

Still not sure about the coconut bras....chanting part, but as I believe the silent section is where the crowd is to chime in and sing HERE WE ARE, I am thinking it is chanting.

Here we are
Here we are
Here we are
Here we are

Who would have thought this game, this flame would still be burning?
Who would have guessed that all these blenders would still be churning?
Not even we, on our bended knees could have ever blessed it.
Not even I, with my head in the sky could have ever guessed it, but
Here we are, for a family reunion, costume barbeque.
All the black sheep, family outcasts and a freak or two.

No, the hat tricks and the gold bricks still don’t have us down.
Still a party for the hearty when we come to town.
You’re still grinning, we’re still winning, nothing left to say.
I’m still gliding as I go flying down this endless wave, and
Here we are, we’re the offbeat Uncle Fred’s who spill their wine on you.
And the in your face Aunt Rachel’s with an attitude.
All the ones that use your bathroom then eat all your food.
We’re the dreamy Deadheads who just like us and Dave Matthews.

Here we are, maybe it’s because in spite of all the work we do,
It’s the child in us we really value
Here we are, with our fins up and our feathers flashing
Here we are, with our coconut shell bras (your) chanting……
[crowd sings] HERE WE ARE

Here we are
Here we are
Here we are……
I'm just tryin' to get by being quiet and shy,
In a world full of pushin' and shove.

After listening to it several times, I m almost positive the line is this, and the silence is just to give jimmy and the band a cue to sing the last few lines live in the show:
Here we are, with our coconut shell brassieres chanting……

So here is the somwehat final lyrics:

Here we are
Here we are
Here we are
Here we are

Who would have thought this game, this flame would still be burning?
Who would have guessed that all these blenders would still be churning?
Not even we, on our bended knees could have ever blessed it.
Not even I, with my head in the sky could have ever guessed it, but

Well, no one has said it, so I will.

This is obviously Jimmy's love song to us...or , rather, to you (i'm a keet) who have loved his music and contributed to his coffers for lo these many years.

Or, if you're not the sentimental type, its his thank you to the parrothead nation, and a beautiful one

Some think it means he is soon to stop touring...I prefer to think not...but only time will tell.......

Ummm.... as far as the lyrics go, I know it may sound like Here we are, with our coconut shell brassieres chanting, but the line is Here we are - with our with coconut-shell brassieres chafing

As posted back a couple of pages:

I have it on very good authority (those NSA wiretaps are finally paying off) that the original lyric was "chafing." And I like it because it's a real graphic down-to-earth image against the general love-fest that is this song. I have never personally worn one of them, but there has to be some unpleasant rubbing going on. Perhaps somebody who has worn one will pass through and explain. However, "frozen bird" (on pg.3 of this thread) brought up the idea that the word "chanting" really fits and that it might be that the silence at that point in the song is meant to be filled by the audience chanting Here We Are. I think that is brilliant, too. I don't know which I like better. We'll see how this develops on the next leg of the tour perhaps, as the song becomes more familiar and especially if they start playing it live instead of using the studio recording. Cheers to Frozen Bird for that cool thought.

There are a few things that make me think this isn't the end:

--I have not seen the video as I have not made any shows this year, but according to a few posters who have, at the end of this video, it says on the screen, "Thank You Parrotheads. See You at the Next Show."

--During the encores of the Mountain View show, he said, "It's Still Fun, and we are going nowhere."

--At the Phoenix show, he ended with "See You Next Time."

--And, last but not least, his ticket prices are much higher, and he has four less people to pay. That would have to be hard to walk away from.

Can you imagine a full show audience singing Here We Are together?? OMG, gives me chills just thinking about it. :D :o

I think given a little time, as people get used to hearing the song (and especially if they play it live, like backbeat says) and start singing along, that short gap will be filled by -us-... singing about *US*.... :D  :D

Love it.

Jimmy's just observing what he see's, and he hits the mark - again.

This one is a winner - can't wait to get a clean copy of it!

After getting my ego inflated quite nicely by backbeat, I started to do some serious thinking...For years on these boards, people have been asking the question, "If you met Jimmy what would you say?" and a majority of the answers have been along the lines of "Thank You." With the second leg of the PATEOTW tour set to kick off, maybe "Here We Are" is our chance to actually say thanks for all the years to Jimmy in person.

Wouldn't it be cool if every time they played the song, either recorded with the video or live, and they reached the pause after chafing or chanting or however he decides to sing it that night, Jimmy was blown away by 20,000 people singing "Here We Are!" right back at him. It could sort of let him know that yes, we do appreciate the fact that he's still out there doing what he does best for each and every one of us. It can let him know that the songs that he writes and sings still have meaning to us. And, just maybe, it will plant the seed in his soon-to-be-60-year-old mind that, "hey, maybe a couple more years on the road wouldn't be too bad after all."

Pass it along to our fellow Parrotheads. Tell everyone you know that is going to a show. Give the word to the tailgaters next to you in the lot. This year, we have a message for Jimmy, and the message is quite simple...

Here We Are

I tried starting this at Shoreline, but it being only the fourth show on the tour not many others had heard it.

The problem with getting another copy of it now is that it should sound the same, because it's not being performed live. I'm sure Jimmy would appreciate us singing along, but he isn't always on stage when they play it.

I haven't heard the version from the Shoreline since I was there. But again, I'd bet the version I have from Irvine 4/20 should be the exact same.

though I think I recognized at least one of the yelling people at the beginning of the track from another live CD. maybe it was Mac?
